I am still working away on my Wix website.  Considering all the artwork I need to add to it, it will take a long time to complete, but I do want to get traffic there as soon as possible so I will have my Wordpress header painting with the link to it on my website! Not sure why there is a add to cart button.  I have not added the online store option yet so patrons will have to contact me right now.

Eventually I will have the Fine Art widget on it for people that want prints. For now  I will include that link under the painting, too!  Please check out what I have there so far!  Quite a lot to see.  I am hoping to paint today but it is so dark out that it will be difficult to see the warm colors.  Light is everything.  My Daylight Florescent lights can only compensate for so much.

As I have mentioned before, the main reason I do not paint plein air is because of the extreme change in light from outdoors to indoors and my work is not going to be hanging outdoors somewhere. It is very important to me that the colors are accurate in home light and office light.  Hope to get more light soon.

Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler

I can't believe the number of mosquito bites I have had this season.  I am not outdoors much and all our windows have very secure screens but I keep getting more welts.  They seem to prefer me over Clyde and I probably scratch them while I am sleeping because they turn into massive lumps.  Recently I was bit in the same place on each thigh.

I told Clyde that I think a couple of sisters decided to have a competition to see who could get the most.  One of them said to the other, "You take this thigh and I'll get the other one and may the best blood sucker win."  The one that got the right thigh won by a landslide, body slide, leg slide - whatever.

Anyway, I don't think a Hobbit like me with secure screens should be getting this type of bite action.  They must sneak in on our clothes when we come in the door.  I hate mosquitoes.  They really do suck. I decided to look up whether or not we would be better off without them and here is what I found. I am not surprised that we should not try to eradicate them.  Everything works together in nature like an airplane in the air.  We should not try to get rid of any bolts or that airplane is going to crash.

Should we try to eradicate mosquitoes?

No, because not all are bad. Mosquitoes are a fly in the family Culicidae, and there are over 3500 species of them! The females lay eggs usually in still water, anything from a shallow pond to a flowerpot or birdbath or puddle. The larvae live in the water, eating microbes and small particles or algae. They pupate in the water, and the adult mosquito eventually emerges from the water surface and flies off.

What do adult mosquitoes eat? Most are vegetarian. They drink flower nectar, plant sap, and fruit juices, and never drink blood. Killing these species is not necessary: in fact, it’s counterproductive.

The more than 90 species of one such harmless genus, Toxorhynchites, also known as the “elephant mosquito” because of their great size, are an ally to our cause: their larvae eat other mosquito larvae! Since they are helpful, we should make sure any strategies we use to kill bad mosquitoes will leave these gentle giants alone.
