I am so pleased to be finished with the second glass painting restoration!  Had some trouble with certain colors resisting but after many layers it is completely covered and I will send a file to the patron. 

He has one more so I am looking forward to seeing him and giving him the first two.  He said the first one looked wonderful! 

They certainly are interesting paintings.  My husband said they looked like illustrations for books.  Below is the second one.

Life with the Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler

Clyde is always complaining about traffic.  For some reason a lot of dangerous drivers seem to find him a lot more than they find me. 

Well, yesterday I had an interesting experience I had to tell him about.  I was driving along when I noticed in the mirror a driver weaving back and forth which made me nervous.  When the driver was practically touching my bumper I could see it was a girl that kept looking at herself in the mirror and then looking down to the seat. 

I am pretty sure I have mentioned before that my brother-in-law always gets off the road if someone is barreling down on him.  He says he had better get out of the way. That guy must be on a mission for God. 

Well, I don't usually get out of the way but I did turn off and let that girl pass because I think she must have been on a mission for Revlon.  Clyde agreed.

Please check out my latest video!  I was in the mood for a Center of my Mind Painting!

 

I am just about finished with the second painting commission and it is turning out really well!  As I said, these are paintings on glass so the process has been quite different from my usual work.  I always paint in layers but  colors do not  resist on the canvas the way some are resisting on the glass. 

I painted on metal one time and had the same problem but eventually was able to completely cover the surface with many layers of tempera paint.  These glass paintings are enamel acrylic which is the best paint to use on glass. 

The originals paintings that lost of lot of the paint had to be done in oils since acrylics only date back to the fifties. 

Anyway, I think I should be done with the second one tomorrow and I thought I would again show the first one here. 

It certainly is a stylized painting with strong color fields!

Still working away on too many things at the same time.  I am pleased that I am able to juggle a lot of balls at the same time.  Never could really do that.  I am really impressed with people that can juggle.  I do juggle a lot of jobs which is not always easy but I am never bored.

Anyway, I am pleased to sell another framed print of my most popular beach painting, Marsh View at Pawleys Island to a great Pawleys Island patron!  That is certainly a fitting place for it to be! 

I know it may seem strange that I use that painting as my blog header since it is not a Blue Ridge painting.  Even though I have lived my adult life in the Ridge and Valley mountains which are right next to the Blue Ridge I paint a lot of other settings and my favorite place is the shore.

Today Clyde and I bumped into each other in the hall way.  Neither one of us said anything. 

This thought came to mind which is like the quote from the popular 70's movie Love Story!

Love means never having to say you are sorry when you bump into each other in the hall way. 

I later mentioned that to Clyde and all I got was an argh!  

So much for that quote!  LOL!

Well, I have done some unusual commissions but my latest is definitely a new experience for me that is turning out very well!  A great patron that owns a number of my prints and one commission asked me to restore some paintings done on glass that were made over 100 years ago! 

A lot of the paint had come off and when I attempted to paint from the back the way the artist did, the damaged first layer still showed, so I either had to scrape off all of the paint or paint on the front and completely cover all layers. 

The patron didn't have a problem with painting the front.  I think it turned out great and the patron said it looks wonderful so now on to the second one!  The finished painting on glass is below.  It will be placed back into a gorgeous, molded frame.

I am so pleased I finished another Youtube Demo today!  I am trying to get more attention on Youtube and more followers.  I think this one turned out real well!  I always take an experimental approach with Youtubes and I was going to paint more of an abstract one but ended up with my main style. 

I am getting lots of great comments on them and another Youtuber is going to feature information about my work on one of his Youtubes!  Always great to get that kind of compliment!  I am also pleased with the progress on my latest commission.  I was having a little trouble with it but now I think it is all clear sailing! 

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  One of these days I might notice the difference between week days and weekends but I doubt it.

Not my favorite day. Lots of aggravation. Trying to get things done but I feel like I am on a treadmill.  Lots of motion, just not getting anywhere.  I think it was The Father of the Bride starring Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor that featured a dream sequence with Tracy trying to get down the aisle at the church and there were so many obstacles he couldn't get there.  I think some days are like that.  Oh well.  Let's see what I can get done before I let out a scream like Elizabeth Taylor did in that film. LOL!

Well, the painting demo for my latest Youtube that I uploaded today sure took quite a u-turn!  I changed it so much that I decided to upload the demo and the final painting in my Stages of my Artwork collection on my website. 

The idea I had in my mind when I filmed the demo just didn't go the way I had planned so I stopped at a point that I thought had a finished look and then went back into the whole painting off camera. 

My Skyline Paintings are always highly experimental so I never know where they are going to take me.  Be sure to check out the Demo above and click on the first stage and the final paintings below!

Such a grey day.  It is so dark outside it is like twilight.  I have read that days without sun cause some people to be depressed.  I have never noticed that.  I like being able to see without sun glasses and the somber mood is okay with me.  I must admit I would rather see the sun. 

I was amazed at the temperature in my car when I went to the store! 67! That certainly is warm for January.  I like snow and hope we see some more.  I have some new boots so I can walk in it.  I always said if we have to have winter then there should be snow.  It is so beautiful!  I only have a few snow scene paintings.
