There sure are a lot of image thieves on the internet.  One of my paintings is still on a Hong Kong based site.  They are selling canvas prints of it.  They have a US office but the lawyers still couldn't do anything about it.  I know of one artist that just doesn't even do reverse image searches.  He would rather ignore the problem.  I am not giving up.

I was so pleased with my latest lizard illustration for Clyde's book that I told him how much I liked it before I showed it to him so he wouldn't be sleeping on the couch for finding fault with it.

He wasn't married yesterday and was quite pleased with it.  I think he was sincere so I didn't need to threaten him after all. LOL!

Just for fun I looked up some lizard jokes and found a bunch of great ones!

What do you call a lizard that tells jokes?  A Stand up Chameleon.

What do you call a lizard that sings!  A Raptile.

I mentioned those to Clyde and he came up with one.  What do you call a reptile that wants to succeed?  A Iwanaguana.

Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler

A lot of people believe there is a sock eating monster in the dryer.  How can one sock disapear? When I was in school an Art student made a great claymation video of the monster poking its head in the dryer for socks.

I think there is an eye glasses monster that steals my glasses.  I don't want to get one of those chains but I may have to.  I only allow them to be in one of two places so that's how I know there is a thief.

I mentioned this to Clyde and he said if that's true then there are a lot of strange little sock creatures wearing broken glasses running around the house looking for hiding places.

I'm sure he is right!

I am so glad I can use our computer again. The virus was caught in the back up system so we just had to replace that.

While the computer was being scanned I was working on a lap top that came real close to becoming a frisbee hurtling out the window at 90mph.

I kept an eye on the scan and it finally finished and there were instructions on what to do next.

I ran to the next room and told Clyde the computer was giving us instructions.

He gave me instructions instead.  Shoot the computer and put it out of our misery.

That was tempting.  Good thing we don't have a gun.

I can't believe the mistake I a few days ago.  I was using the reverse image search and it was taking a long time when I noticed a sign that said to download so the searches will be faster.

Now a search engine that is called Search has taken over and we are pretty sure it is an awful virus so I am typing away on a laptop.  A friend is going to help us out tomorrow with our computer.

I know better than to click on that sort of thing!  Oh well.  Live and learn or is it learn and then forget the lesson.

Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler

Many years ago when we moved into our house Clyde planted apple trees, cherry trees, and a peach tree that died after one great harvest.

It has been great having organic fruit and I have made a lot of pies.  Now Clyde can't eat apples or cherries and Alan only likes juice.

This year we are covered up in apples and since we don't spray them they have a lot of bad spots so I don't give them away.  I just try to eat as many as I can.  They taste great!

The wild life problem has gotten very bad with ground hogs roaming all over the yard and birds pecking away.  Clyde said the ground hogs are not just eating off the ground, now they are climbing the trees.

He said if I wanted apples I may have to wrestle a ground hog and swat a lot of birds before I get any.

I'll let Clyde get the apples.

I think I am about done with my latest Kendall Expressions painting. In the fourth layer I decided to play off complicated areas with broad color fields.  I am pretty sure I am not going to make any more changes. 

The final state is below but I don't have it available on my website yet.  Soon!

Time to get back to a local painting.  Love this gorgeous New River Valley and I have plans for a large floral landscape based on a field near Childress, VA.

Clyde and I had a great meeting  with the president of Ferrum College, Jennifer Braaten. We enjoyed looking at the college's art collection and talking about Ferrum history.  Such a great school and beautiful campus!

The VSO Breeding Bird Foray is turning out to be a great success.  The Bird Man was worried he wouldn't have enough help but he has recruited 26 so he is smiling big right now!  The Foray goes through this Sunday and he will be out checking on all of the populations every day.  These surveys are important indicators of environmental health due to the fact that birds are much easier to find and monitor than other wildlife.  Go Bird Man!!!

 The Eye of The Squirrel is an intense, expressive painting from my series Kendall Expressions. My work has always had Expressionistic elements combined with Impressionistic elements. In these works I am emphasizing my expressive side. I am very pleased with the look in the squirrel's eye and how the animal seems to sink into an other worldly space.

I can't believe that I forgot that Line Dancing was cancelled Tuesday  night.  It is a half hour drive to Pulaski and I made that trip for nothing.  Clyde said that must have been a short class. 

I hang appointment notices from the kitchen doorway and mark all over the calender.  I try to read as much Spanish as I have time for on the internet and still can't find my glasses or remember some important things said to me like class cancellation.

I guess I will just have to keep remembering the saying on Facebook that it isn't age that is causing memory problems, it is just that I have so much information over the years that I can't keep track of it all.

Blue Ridge Parkway Artist

My artwork takes me in many directions.  This June there will be an article on me in The Inflectionist which is an online magazine that is hard copy twice a year.  Most of my work consists of oil paintings about The Blue Ridge Mountains but I also work in many other mediums, styles, and subjects.

Here is one of my favorite lithographs.  The girl has an especially pensive, beautiful look on her face and the light models the right side of the form and then the girl seems to flatten out into a mystical space.

The second one has been hand colored for an expressive effect.  Most lithographs are hand colored due to the difficulties in printing them in color.

Scammers to the right of me.  Scammers to the left of me.  Well, actually they are right in front of me on the internet and talking to me on my answering machine.

I asked Clyde to work on one of them for me.  I keep getting a call about a mandatory credit card authorization or something like that.  I get that message almost every day so I asked Clyde to ask people at work if there was anything to this call.  I am not calling them back for fear of some kind of sneaky scam.

The other one I am getting practically every day is laughable.  Good looking guys that are in the military and want to get to know me.  I look like an angel and they are captivated by my smile.   They want to captivate my bank account!

Yesterday's scam was especially funny.  Two Google+ requests from two different guys in the military but the picture is the same.  One is further back so I guess the scammer will think the picture they stole will look like a different person.  Two scams for the theft of one picture. What a hoot!

Balloon Ride is another sensuous, colorful painting from my series,
Suggestions. I am starting with an abstract expressionist surface and then looking for forms that appear in the paint. This time balloon like shapes began to appear by a dark area that looked something like a cliff so I made it into a balloonscape! I am especially pleased with the flowing motion in this one.

This time a vase like shape showed up to I decided to make a floral still life. I am always talking about how I like to put the life in still life so I added vibrant colors radiating out from the vase!

I know I have ranted about TV commercials before but it is time for an update.  Sometimes I wish it were still against the law for lawyers to advertise on TV.  There is one that has been voted the mostly likely commercial to be muted.  I hit it immediately.  I guess I shouldn't criticize these people that just want to serve us because they love people. 

Whenever there is a discussion about certain professionals wanting to help the public I always get the Beach House comment from Clyde.  Their real motive according to him is they need to pay for their beach house.  If you listen to Clyde you would think that all insurance agents, lawyers, doctors,  and politicians are struggling to pay for a beach house. A certain percentage of every bill goes to their beach house fund.

Just joking around!  No offense to these professionals but I do wish there were less commercials on TV.  I mostly watch DVDs but sometimes I watch TV.  I think the advertisers could at least not show the same commercial twice in one break!  ARGH!

Life with the Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler

I love all the arts and if I had a bunch of lives I would seriously pursue every one of them!  I live to paint but I also play the piano and line dance.

I have the greatest respect for artists and I hate it when people won't hire an artist when they need one.  I am talking about commercials that have the people that are advertising act out skits to sell.  That really gets on my nerves.  I can't get to the mute button fast enough.

Locally, there are two businessmen that put on skits on commercials that are horrible!  They make me appreciate actors and all they go through to master their craft.

They are so bad that I honestly think I could do a better job and I have never had an acting lesson.

Clyde says two squirrels from out back yard could audition for the commercial and do better even if they were hired to play themselves.
