Still trying to get to finish line on my latest painting of a Blue Ridge sunset but I am at the most difficult stage, at least for me.  I don't want to lose what I have achieved but I do want to modify a few areas.  It is so hard not to add  more paint everywhere which would just create more areas that need tweaking.

Today the light was okay but my glasses were rather dirty so the colors came out stronger than I wanted them to.  I think I will work in areas for one more day and then let it live. 

It is always important to get away from a painting and then check it out later.  Usually, it looks great after it ages so that is what this one is going to do unless someone purchases it.  The floral garden I did before this one doesn't seem to have any problems at all now!  Love how that works! 

Anyway, I am pleased to sell another print of my best selling shore painting, Marsh View at Pawleys Island to a great New York patron!

Well, I arm wrestled my latest painting down and now I am debating on working in small areas which I hate to do. It is always so hard to decide when a painting is done.  I am thinking the value pattern could be better so I think I will go into a few areas one more time.  The surface is so thick now.  The painting really comes out strongly into the room without any light. 

I am never happy until my paintings glow in natural light.  They also look good in incandescent light.  Natural light and incandescent light is where the majority of them end up, so I paint them to look good in those lights.

Lots of great comments on my latest youtube of my studio!  It has been a while since I gave a tour of it and now that it is completely cleaned up so I am glad to show it. 

Also, I am again including the humorous one I did years ago for people that haven't seen it.

Well, instead of painting today I filmed another youtube for Monday. This time I gave a tour of my studio.  I did that a long time ago when I didn't have many followers and wasn't actively interacting on Youtube. 

I didn't look at it as a social media site.  I thought I could just put up youtubes and get a lot of attention.  Wrong!  Now I interact with all those that follow me and I have over 800 followers. 

I am going to continue to work at growing my channel since Youtube is so popular.  The one I made years ago was meant to be a humorous video about how hard it is to keep a studio clean.  I worked hard on it and would like to get more attention for it.  I am including it here!  Please check it out if you haven't seen it!

Yesterday, as I was getting aggravated over my current painting that seemed to be working really well the day before yesterday, I thought about how paintings can be so ornery.  Of course, before throwing brushes around the room I remembered what I always say about how if it were easy, I wouldn't do it.  It would be boring.

Anyway, the painting must have heard me because  it got right back on track after I was thinking about it.  It was a value problem and now I am confident I will get to the end and be mostly happy about it.  The next one will always be better.  That carrot will always be a little out of reach but most of them age so well.  Just have to leave it alone for a while and start another.

I am pleased to sell prints of  Blue Ridge Meadow  to a great Virginia patron!  This time the prints are on pillows.  It is great to think of my paintings on a sofa for everyone to see.

Well, today's painting session was an arm wrestler but it turned out well. I violated one of my own rules that I don't think will ever change.  When I first started painting in oils I didn't think the cost of paint was that bad. I hardly used any and my paintings were done in very thin layers. That was a long time ago and now I work in my own take on the impasto method with a brush that requires a lot of expensive paint. 

When I remember I have to practically put it on with a spoon, all goes well and I doesn't seem like a huge expense. When I don't use a lot, I end up having to start over and the sum total is much more expensive than if I just remember that rule.  Rules are meant to be broken so that is why I keep trying to go backwards but it looks as if this rule is here to stay - at least for now. 

Anyway,  I am glad to sell some prints of Bear Beauty, one of my Kendall Expressions series.  This time the sale is of greeting cards to a great Minnesota patron. I have included others from that series below.   My work is on just about anything and the talented, beautiful actress Morgan Fairchild recently  bought one of my favorite florals on a t-shirt and tweeted herself with it on!  Love it! She has purchased three original wildflower paintings and a number of prints on various items, including face masks.

I am so tired.  I am doing my part for the election which makes it even harder to get all my computer work done.  Oh well.  I'm sure there are many that have it much harder than me during this awful pandemic which seems to be getting worse.

I really am behind the eight ball today but that is nothing new.  Still not happy about the Wordpress changes and will use the classic version until I have time to learn the new format.  I know I don't have a computer problem every day but sometimes it seems that way.  Another day another computer problem is my motto even though that isn't completely true.  

I think I am doing better than I used to in regards to getting  things right. That is probably because I have spent so much time on this thing that I am beginning to learn the ropes.  I probably used two sayings that aren't used any more but I am not sure if that is true. "Behind the Eight Ball" and "learn the ropes".  If they aren't used anymore then that just shows how old I am . 

Oh well.  Time doesn't stand still for any of us.  I have my board prepared for my next painting that I am really excited about.  I am hoping to combine a number of things I have learned from my Demo Youtubes in an oil painting of a Blue Ridge overlook.  I have other obligations today  but Thursday I will begin it for sure!  Please check out this week's short Youtube on various oil paintings and have a great day!  It is beautiful here in Virginia today.

Love my evening dishwasher.  Now that Clyde has retired he does the supper dishes and I do the morning and lunch dishes. He does a good job and I noticed he is starting to do what my Mom and I do. 

If he sees any dishes he can wash before the meal is served he does them.  Relatives used to make fun of my Mom for that. One relative teased her and said she does the dishes before she eats. 

Well, it does help a lot to clean some pots and dishes that were used to mix things. 

Clyde says he is trying to get them done before more troops arrive.  Isn't that the truth!

I guess Wordpress has changed their format which is probably helpful to many but it is always a problem for me.  I get used to one way of doing things and then it is different. I hate to be a stick in the mud, but I wish they would not change site formats. 

I am looking forward to my next painting which will be a Blue Ridge landscape which is my main work.  This time it will be based on a location with some improvisations in the look of the overlook and the sky.

Hope everyone is well and staying as safe as possible.

 

Well I can't figure out a thing in this new format.  I thought I had pressed classic editor but I guess I didn't.  The new one kept asking me if I wanted to stay on the page when I was typing something.   Arggh! Now I am back to classic so I can get things done.  I thought I would never get used to the Wix format but I am getting better at it so I am sure I will get used to this. 

I am using the classic editor but weird things keep happening so I may have to claim victory and retreat before I pull my hair out. 

I HAVE HAD ENOUGH COMPUTER AGGRAVATION FOR ONE DAY.

Anyway, I am glad to sell a print of Wildflower Mist to a great Georgia patron!  This one will be in a nursery.  How great to think of a baby waking up to one of my paintings!
