A few days ago I mentioned a bruise between my knuckles on my left hand.  I suggested to my husband that maybe I smacked him when we were asleep.  His reply was that was why he sleeps to well.  Well, yesterday I found a large bruise on the big toe on my right foot so I suggested to my husband that maybe I kicked him the other night when he was causing the walls to fall down with his snoring. 

He doesn't snore often but when he does, look out!  His reply was that kicking him wouldn't do me any good and definitely no damage to him.  Is that the reply of a hard head?

The other day right after painting I noticed a purple patch between one of my knuckles on the left hand.  I knew right away that it wasn't paint.  It was sore to the touch.  I do not remember doing anything to cause a bruise so I said to Clyde that maybe I smacked him in my sleep with the back of my hand.  His immediate response was  sure, that is why I sleep so well.  Joker!

Life with The Bird and Word Man - Clyde Kessler

"Roanoke Beauty" is a small painting of Happy Hollow Ground Park in Roanoke, VA. This painting was sold out of Towhee Hill Studio. It is a colorful, textural view of a beautiful park ground. The boards are viewing platforms for visitors. This is one of many New River sites that have been inspirations for my paintings. I especially like to find sites with flowers so I will have a lot of color interaction.

Now that my husband is off until 2015 ,is he sleeping in rather than getting up at 4:30?  No way.  He is still getting up and checking on the various bird and wildlife species in Radford, VA.  No matter what the weather, the Bird Man is always outside doing what he loves.  I went on just part of a Christmas Bird Count many years ago and thought I would freeze to death.  I admire these people, but it is just not for me.

I couldn't agree more with the old saying that what is heaven to one person is hell to another.  I'm sure there are plenty of people that would like to do anything rather than stand up at an easel for hour after hour.  That is my heaven but it is a job and does take a lot of discipline.  It is just like playing a musical instrument.  You have to put in a lot of time every day to accomplish a work of art.  I love my job but I could find a lot of other things to do.  I truly do live to paint and  I will be in there soon!

I'm sure my husband is sick of hearing me complain about computer problems. It really is not practical to drop it out the window and let gravity do the work.

I am pleased that I figured out the Youtube problem by clicking rather then applying logic to a machine with an illogical mind but now I have another problem that is driving me nuts.  I do not have the time to retweet all the people on twitter that re-tweet me.  I have close to 16,000 followers.

I have Tweet Adder which is supposed to take care of a lot of the work but when I add names to the AutoTweet section, nothing happens.  I followed the instructions of a tutorial and NOTHING HAPPENS!   I am still spending a ridiculous amount of time re-tweeting others.

I have asked people on one site and didn't receive help.  If anyone here knows how to get the AutoTweet going on Tweet Adder, please let me know!

I have been going through my portfolio to show my florals.  Today I thought I would show two brand new ones that are part of my series, Suggestions.  These are paintings that I am doing based on an Abstract Expressionist surface.  When I see a shape I go with it and develop a colorful, abstract painting.

Petal Play is another sensuous, colorful painting from my series,
Suggestions. I am starting with an abstract expressionist surface and then looking for forms that appear in the paint. This time I saw two large flowers in the position that I have them in the painting. They look like a cross between a petunia and morning glory. I am very pleased with the color in this one.

A Vase of color is another sensuous, colorful painting from my series,
Suggestions. I am starting with an abstract expressionist surface and then looking for forms that appear in the paint. This time I saw a rounded shape at the bottom so I turned the painting into a soft focus floral. I am very pleased with the flowing, circular motion in this one.

It has been quite cloudy lately so the light in my studio is not what I want it to be.  As I have mentioned before, when it is very dark outside the warm colors are hard to see so I end up with stronger warms than I want.  I sure do have to look for the light to work. 

I remember reading about Pierre Bonnard when he was instructing a child he thought had talent.  He remarked that they had to work before the good light was gone.

When you work with a zillion colors light is extremely important.  This is not a problem for my naturalist husband who doesn't mind getting up in the middle of the night to catch the owls for bird counts.  The stereotype of the bird watcher is completely false.  They are rugged people that walk up and down mountains in brutal weather for accurate records.

I think I will quit gripping about the light and get to work.  My studio is very comfortable.

My husband and I don't give gifts that we haven't first discussed.  Usually I just order something for me for Christmas and put his name on the package.  He tells me what to get locally.  Since we have that arrangement neither one of us has an ugly Christmas sweater.  Neither family has ever given us one of those either.

Tomorrow I am going to a club to Line Dance and the owners want everyone to dress up in an ugly Christmas sweater.  Well, I am not going shopping for one so that's that.  Anyway, our class has nice white fur neckline cuffs and wrist cuffs.  We decided to show up in those with a red shirt.  Should be great fun!

Computers are great in many ways but I HATE how you have to keep learning about them.  I am the perfect example of the old dog you can't teach new tricks to.  I am forever complaining about this machine to my husband who knows a lot more about them than I do.  He sits in front of one all day at his job.

I sit in front of one mainly to promote my artwork.  I live to paint but I can't  take them with me so I work hard to find homes for them.

My computer rant today is every time a site informs me of the great new changes it has made I let out a groan.  They rarely seem like better changes to me and I am always lost at first.  I get tripped up by little things I 'll bet most people are not bothered by.  I am computer challenged.

I have been having trouble sleeping lately due to some soreness in my legs.  I think there should be some sort of meter that tells you when to quit so that muscles don't get mad at you.  I do work hard but I don't think I do too much.

Anyway, my husband calls me at 7:3o to get me up so I can take our son to work.  He gets up at 4:30 to go to work so he can get a parking place that is not miles from the office.

This morning when I answered I let out a long groan.  His response was for me to translate.  I explained that I had been awake every hour since 3:30 and that is why I groaned.  He said go throw some rocks, or better yet, throw the computer out the window.

Now that is a great idea!

The other day I asked my husband to call a government agency on behalf of our son.  I was very busy and decided to delegate a little.  He was at work and thought he could try to straighten something out on a break.

He got an actual human on the phone after only a few minutes wait and then was told the problem could be easily fixed but he was not authorized to communicate with the agency.  I forgot that I was listed as the contact person.  My husband was informed that it was another member of the family but they couldn't tell him the name.

I think after all these years my husband knows my name!  LOL

I am excited about adding my latest Blue Ridge Parkway painting to my portfolio!   It has been a lot of work and I will be glad to move on to another Blue Ridge Vista.

Tulip Dance is an exceptionally vibrant floral. I am especially pleased with the energy and bursting flow to this work. I was listening to David Garrett's crossover version of Vivaldi's Summer when I painted it. I think I captured the energy in that music and translated into an exciting flower dance.

My husband and I have been married for more decades than I care to admit to.  Over the years I have seen a lot of couples call it quits which is why I refer to us as dinosaurs.  We go way, way back, just like those huge creatures.  Today it occurred to me which dinosaur we are!  The Tyrannosaurus Wrecks!  Perfect!

Wading is another sensuous, colorful painting from my series, Suggestions. I am starting with an abstract expressionist surface and then looking for forms that appear in the paint. This time I saw a nude leaning forward so I brought her out and put her water. I think the peaceful effect is beautiful.

I am so glad I married someone that makes me laugh and he said the other night that he was glad he married someone that likes to laugh.  We haven't had to call 911 yet but I do get to the point that I need to stop and breath!   Whenever I find something on Facebook that I think is a real crack up I show him.  The other day there was a great one that I know Clyde can truly relate to.  He has worked with the Forest Service for many years and has had a few close calls with bears and one time he had to confront one running at him.  He knew what to do so thankfully I am not a widow.

Anyway on Facebook there was a picture of a bear running toward the person that took the picture.  The caption read, "Not a runner?"  Now you are!
