I didn't get to paint today.  Too many other things to do but I will get to paint tomorrow.  I am very excited about my latest mountain painting!  It is really coming along and I am glad I am documenting the different stages for myself and for people that would like to buy a print of one of the stages. 

I may mess something up and wish I had left it alone but now I can at least see  the versions I lost.  It is always an arm wrestling experience but I'll get it done.  Cheers!

As I have mentioned before, I love to joke around about internet scammers with Clyde.  The other day Tom Cruise asked me to be one of his friends on TSU.  A lot of people put up twitter accounts with a celebrity name and picture, but they also include a disclaimer that the account isn't really the celebrity's account.

This one on TSU just had the actor's picture, birth date, and nothing more.  I decided to have some fun with the scammer.  I sent him or her a message asking if the account was a fan page for the famous actor.  The response was, "Fan page, is that picture really of you or someone else? "  That sentence could mean the scammer was wondering why I was questioning the account or affirming my question.  I said it was me and the next message I received was exceptionally vulgar.  Definitely not Tom Cruise!  LOL!

I am excited about adding my latest Blue Ridge Parkway painting to my portfolio!   It has been a lot of work and I will be glad to move on to another Blue Ridge Vista. 

I am also pleased with my new series, Suggestions!  I am really letting the paint tell me what to do and the results have been great!  I am working on a small scale so I can work fast and keep the spontaneity in them.

I still have a lot of florals to present here.  Here are two of my favorites!

Hibiscus Bush is a colorful painting of a neighbors hibiscus bush in Radford city, VA. Sometimes one thing will catch my eye and I want to celebrate it with my colors and textures. I love the way the light hits this bush.

Tulip Dance is an exceptionally vibrant floral. I am especially pleased with the energy and bursting flow to this work. I was listening to David Garrett's crossover version of Vivaldi's Summer when I painted it. I think I captured the energy in that music and translated into an exciting flower dance.

My husband and I have been married for more decades than I care to admit to.  Over the years I have seen a lot of couples call it quits which is why I refer to us as dinosaurs.  We go way, way back, just like those huge creatures.  Today it occurred to me which dinosaur we are!  The Tyrannosaurus Wrecks!  Perfect!

This beautiful mountain vista has also been stumbling since the middle of last week!

I came across a wonderful Cherokee legend about a witch in the Blue Ridge Mountains!  What a great tale!

A long time ago there was a witch that was like an ogre.  Her skin was like rock and could not be penetrated by any weapon  but she could magically appear as a nice old woman.  She ate human livers by putting her long stony sharp finger through a body and pull the liver out.  The victim did not feel any pain and oftentimes was unaware they were being attacked.  They would start to feel ill and waste away.

She would often fool little girls by offering to comb their hair and then cause them to fall asleep so she could steal their livers.

The council decided they must do something about this witch before she attacked everyone and destroyed the tribe.  They dug a deep ditch and placed branches and leaves over it so it could not be seen.  Then they set a fire to attract the witch.

She fell in but arrow after arrow just bounced off as she tried to get out.  A Chickadee bird flew into the pit and landed on her right hand.  The warriors aimed there and the arrow went into her heart that she kept clutched in that hand.

Cherokees believe the chickadee is a truth sayer and if one appears to someone on a journey they are sure to have a safe trip home!
