Blue Ridge Parkway Artist
I
have just completed a new Blue Ridge Parkway painting! I am very
pleased with it. It is not available on my website for prints yet but
tomorrow it will be available for purchase on my Etsy shop!
I have just
started another mountainscape. I am so pleased to be back to my main
theme!

Life with The Bird and Word Man - Clyde Kessler
"Roanoke
Beauty" is a small painting of Happy Hollow Ground Park in Roanoke, VA.
This painting was sold out of Towhee Hill Studio. It is a colorful,
textural view of a beautiful park ground. The boards are viewing
platforms for visitors. This is one of many New River sites that have
been inspirations for my paintings. I especially like to find sites with
flowers so I will have a lot of color interaction.
Now
that my husband is off until 2015 ,is he sleeping in rather than
getting up at 4:30? No way. He is still getting up and checking on the
various bird and wildlife species in Radford, VA. No matter what the
weather, the Bird Man is always outside doing what he loves. I went on
just part of a Christmas Bird Count many years ago and thought I would
freeze to death. I admire these people, but it is just not for me.
I couldn't
agree more with the old saying that what is heaven to one person is
hell to another. I'm sure there are plenty of people that would like to
do anything rather than stand up at an easel for hour after hour. That
is my heaven but it is a job and does take a lot of discipline. It is
just like playing a musical instrument. You have to put in a lot of
time every day to accomplish a work of art. I love my job but I could
find a lot of other things to do. I truly do live to paint and I will
be in there soon!

I
am still struggling with my latest Pawleys Island painting but I can
see light at the end of the canvas! It should be done today and then
there will be finesse time another day as I fine tune it. I will be
getting back to my main theme which is The Blue Ridge Parkway. I am
looking forward to getting back to this gorgeous region.
For
now I thought I would present more of my floral work. I have made a
number of Youtubes on my florals but still have a lot more to show so
here are two favorites
Tulip Burst Original 10" x 8" Oil Painting $168

Tulip
Burst is an exceptionally sensuous, sensitive, whimsical floral. This
painting was done from my imagination and I am especially pleased with
the color patterns, brushwork, and soft, glowing surface. I love to work
with complementary colors and the over all orange blue effect in this
one is especially appealing.
If viewers look
at each tulip they will see a continual change in color and texture. The
color nuances in each flower emphasis the blue-orange color scheme in
the whole painting. I like to paint flowers but my favorite flower is
the tulip.

"Tree
Poem" is a painting that reminds me of the famous poem, "Trees" by
Joyce Kilmer. I consider my work to be visual poetry with complicated
systems of color and texture. In this painting I wanted the land, sky,
and flowers to visually support the tree.
Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler
A
few days ago I was having a strange pain behind my right knee. It
would be intense at times and then go completely away. I kept thinking
it was gone and then it would start up again. I mentioned this to my
husband and said that maybe as we get older we get quirky pains. His
response was that if that is true then his whole body is a quirk. The
joys of getting older. LOL
