Wow!  Lots of white stuff out there!  Our street has not been plowed but I can see traffic moving on one of the main roads from my window.  The guys have shoveled the sidewalk twice now and it is still pouring down. 

I'll never forget what my brother did when we were kids.  He would clear off the driveway after about an inch or two had accumulated and then repeat as often as necessary.  That way he was just pushing it off rather than lifting heavy snow. 

Now he has a snow blower.

As I have mentioned before I have fought the battle of the bulge my whole life.  I can't imagine what it would be like to have the freedom to eat anything without gaining weight.

Anyway, I have learned lots of tricks over the years to keep my weight down and I recently discovered a new one that surprised me.

Once in a while I get the munchies and give in and then am mad at myself.  I hate being stuffed.  It ruins the great experience of eating.  It is like I have to over eat once in a while  to remind myself I don't want to do that.

Exercise is supposed to make you hungry but if I choose to exercise when I am about to over eat it actually takes my appetite away! 

Since Clyde is also prone to eating a little too much I told him I had a new way to stop the munchies.

He said," Sew your lips together?  That would probably do it but if you can still eat, then you deserve it."

Smarty pants.

I have Line Dance and Yoga on the same day for a while and I really am tired at the end of the day.  I am always tired but last night I was extra pooped! 

Anyway, lots to do today and I keep running into road blocks that I put in my Life with The Word and Bird Man section.  I will keep moving and stop tripping, I hope!

I don't care how cold it is right now, I wish I were at the scene below!  Love the beach!

When my son was little I read a lot of Sesame Street books to him.  One of our favorites was Grover's Bad Awful Day.  It is a great book to read to kids so they can get through tough times.  Well,  I certainly thought about that book this morning.

You know you are having a bad day when the pajamas you threw on to the dresser falls in the trash can.

You know you are having a bad day when your water filter just sits there and does not fill up the pitcher.

You know you are having a bad day when you click on something and get a phony virus infection notice that you can't get off without turning the computer off.

Lastly, you know you are having a bad day when you call your husband to ask about a computer problem and the computer gives you a dirty look and just spins and spins and spins.

I bought groceries so I could say I got something done this morning and then got back to all my computer work.

Blue Ridge Parkway Artist

I was so pleased the Aquatic Center was open today!  I had to use the competition pool which is always colder than the leisure pool.  Oh well, once you get in and manage not to scream it isn't so bad.  I like to swim once a week but can't always get to a pool.  The chlorine is a problem this time of year but I slather lotion on and hope for the best!  Yoga and Line Dance tomorrow!   Got to keep moving!

Blue Ridge Parkway Artist

I have my work cut out for me today as usual.  I hope I can get to a new Skyline Beauty painting but I need to build a crate to send a painting out.  That is always quite a chore.  Artwork has to be immobilized and double boxed. 

I have to measure and cut out the boxes and sides which always takes a lot longer than I think it will.  I also have some photography to get done and a zillion computer chores. 

Oh well, can't complain about selling another original!  I am so pleased my new Skyline Beauty series is appreciated!  Star City Sparkle was sold to a great Virginia patron!

I am really enjoying my Beautiful Skyline Series!  I still have a lot of ideas for the Roanoke Skyline but I will move on to others.  Live to paint!  I can't say that too many times.  I just wish I had an agent for all the other work.  

 

Oh well, time to move on to some computer work and then Yoga!  Love it!  My joints especially love Yoga!  Then back to the computer.  I have a project that I am real excited about which will take a lot of seat time.

Because I am so "focused" as a lot of people call artists,  I am not always up on the latest slang.  I love word play and like to see these new sayings.  One I have never understood is ,"Put on your big girl pants".  It is a cute saying but how are pants going to help anything?

I asked Clyde about the saying and he said, what I thought he would say, that the pants are a symbol of maturity.  You put on your big girl pants so you can be tough.

Okay, that is what I thought it meant, but then why did someone post this?  Put on your big girl pants and if that doesn't work, put on your granny pants.  I really don't think granny pants would be tougher. Although the granny on Beverly Hillbillies really could kick up a storm!  So maybe pants do make a difference!  LOL

I have finished the second painting in my new series, Skyline Beauty!  The first one focused on the skyline to the right of the Wachovia Tower and this one it to the right where the star can be seen on Mill Mountain.  I wanted this one to express visual joy and beauty with the swirling colors.  I think I succeeded. As usual I have been griping to Clyde about our printer.  I hardly ever use it because the ink has to be replaced a lot faster than I would like .  

I was about to use it the other night when it informed me that four of the cartridges were out.

Clyde says the printer doesn't use the ink for prints.  It swallows the ink and then calls the bank and says, "I got those suckers again!"

I awoke to the sound of my son screaming in the kitchen.  He had dropped a large glass jug of apple juice on the floor and began to clean it up.  When I got there he had apple juice foot prints in the rug in the living room. 

He got up all the glass without a scratch but didn't clean the mop out so he had mostly pushed the apple juice around the floor.  I showed him how to get the mop clean so he could finish the job. 

Then I cut myself on my plastic capuchino jar.  Didn't think that was possible, but it was.  I have so much to do and I am determined to paint so I had better get going!

Life with The Bird and Word Man - Clyde Kessler

I just got off the phone with my brother who has a doctorate in computer science and does computer contracting out of his home.  Clyde works on a computer all day and knows a lot more about this machine than me.  I sit in front of it and sometimes think I could get a turtle to walk across the keys and get things done faster.

I am Computer LD.  Once I figure something out I have got it, but it takes a while.  Of course, then things change and I am lost once again.  Now I am trying to figure out why my instragram icon on my phone keeps taking me to a message screen and then I can't change it.  I'll figure it out just in time to update it and get lost again.  Cheers!
