Blue Ridge Parkway Artist
I
am excited about getting to the third layer of another Blue Ridge
Parkway autumn painting! The second layer is just about dry. Most of
my paintings are done in three layers, some more than three.

"Shadows
on Sunflowers" is an intimate look at some sunflowers in a vase against
a backdrop of shifting light. The swirling textures enliven the surface
and the colors are intense. The brushwork is complicated and sensuous.
I
have always been fascinated with the colors of light and shade. I
remember reading somewhere that many people consider warm and cool
colors together to be like the music of the spheres.

Albemarle, McLean, VA is one of my series of garden paintings in McLean
where I am from. This is a low-level impasto painting with a constant
variation in color. The mood is cheerful and the surface is complex. The
painting is in a silver-colored metal frame.
Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler
Clyde
is very good about helping me with a stir fry meal I like to make. I
am not much of a cook but this is one meal I make that I really like! I
was extremely tired last night and when he asked me which pot I was
going to use to par boil the broccoli and snow peas, I said the big
round one.
I cracked up but he was not amused. I wonder if there are any other shaped pots.

Actually,
every day is a great day to paint! I am so glad I am an artist. It
isn't easy and requires a lot of discipline but it really is the road
less traveled by and it has made all the difference!

I
am still working on my Suggestions Series! I have no intention of
stopping. I am working on my Blue Ridge paintings at the same time and
will have another Autumn Parkway painting up soon!
Here
is my latest Suggestion painting. This time as I was reacting to color
and texture I saw a leaning sail to I decided to turn that into a

Strange
thing happened this evening. We were watching TV when we both heard a
strange sound. I soon realized it was my stomach growling since I was
very hungry. Clyde said it sounded like a distant car crash. Well,
that's a new one!

A
few days ago I mentioned a bruise between my knuckles on my left hand.
I suggested to my husband that maybe I smacked him when we were
asleep. His reply was that was why he sleeps to well. Well, yesterday I
found a large bruise on the big toe on my right foot so I suggested to
my husband that maybe I kicked him the other night when he was causing
the walls to fall down with his snoring.
He doesn't snore often but when he does, look out! His reply was that
kicking him wouldn't do me any good and definitely no damage to him. Is
that the reply of a hard head?

The
other day right after painting I noticed a purple patch between one of
my knuckles on the left hand. I knew right away that it wasn't paint.
It was sore to the touch. I do not remember doing anything to cause a
bruise so I said to Clyde that maybe I smacked him in my sleep with the

Life with The Bird and Word Man - Clyde Kessler
"Roanoke
Beauty" is a small painting of Happy Hollow Ground Park in Roanoke, VA.
This painting was sold out of Towhee Hill Studio. It is a colorful,
textural view of a beautiful park ground. The boards are viewing
platforms for visitors. This is one of many New River sites that have
been inspirations for my paintings. I especially like to find sites with
flowers so I will have a lot of color interaction.
Now
that my husband is off until 2015 ,is he sleeping in rather than
getting up at 4:30? No way. He is still getting up and checking on the
various bird and wildlife species in Radford, VA. No matter what the
weather, the Bird Man is always outside doing what he loves. I went on
just part of a Christmas Bird Count many years ago and thought I would
freeze to death. I admire these people, but it is just not for me.
I couldn't
agree more with the old saying that what is heaven to one person is
hell to another. I'm sure there are plenty of people that would like to
do anything rather than stand up at an easel for hour after hour. That
is my heaven but it is a job and does take a lot of discipline. It is
just like playing a musical instrument. You have to put in a lot of
time every day to accomplish a work of art. I love my job but I could
find a lot of other things to do. I truly do live to paint and I will
be in there soon!

This time I saw a lot of shapes that looks liked trees so I added a

Search is another sensuous, colorful painting from my series,
Suggestions.
I am starting with an abstract expressionist surface and then looking
for forms that appear in the paint. This time I saw a profile on the
left side so I turned the painting into an intense girl's face. I am
very pleased with the blue tones in this one.

I'm
sure my husband is sick of hearing me complain about computer problems.
It really is not practical to drop it out the window and let gravity do
the work.
I am
pleased that I figured out the Youtube problem by clicking rather then
applying logic to a machine with an illogical mind but now I have
another problem that is driving me nuts. I do not have the time to
retweet all the people on twitter that re-tweet me. I have close to
16,000 followers.
I
have Tweet Adder which is supposed to take care of a lot of the work
but when I add names to the AutoTweet section, nothing happens. I
followed the instructions of a tutorial and NOTHING HAPPENS! I am
still spending a ridiculous amount of time re-tweeting others.
I
have asked people on one site and didn't receive help. If anyone here
knows how to get the AutoTweet going on Tweet Adder, please let me
know!
