Second
day of the new year and there is a puddle in my studio. Yikes! A roof
repair man came over and informed us that our roof shingles are 20 year
shingles so we have been living on borrowed time.
Time to fork out the
big bucks for a new roof. Not the way I wanted to start 2017, but
that's life. Cheers! I am going to have to say that a bunch of times
to myself. Drip, drip, drip.

Painting
can be such an aggravating experience. What I want and what I get are
not always the same thing. Actually, as I told my students, you never
get exactly what you want, but if you work hard you will get close.
I may have mentioned before something a teacher said to me that I think about a lot.
Scraping
off paint is a good thing. It means you are learning something. The
other day I asked Clyde what was the most important thing an artist
learns when she scrapes paint off. He replied, not to bang your head
against the wall? No. The very high cost of paint.
Here's to a
new year and hopefully some great sales. I live to paint but I can't
take them with me and oil paint is very expensive.

One
more day to work on my end of the year resolution and I probably won't
make it. I got the easy half done but going through my two huge file
folders and making all those decisions on what we absolutely have to
keep and what we can trash is not going to happen in 2016. On well, I
got closer to keeping my end of the year resolution than any New Years
resolutions I have made in the past. I think I will try this again at
the end of 2017.

Clyde
and I both love music. I play my piano every day and I am actually
trying to write something. He plays the guitar very well and has
written some music, but, for some reason, he can't sing. He isn't tone
deaf, he just misses some of the notes.

Lots
to do today! I don't make News Years Resolutions but I decided, just
this once, to make an End of the Year resolution. I am way behind in my
paper work so I am trying to get that done before 2017. I made Clyde a
committee of one to handle one part of it that we need some kind of
bookkeeping book for. He is much better at buying things than I am.
Here's to the 31st and may the clerical force be with us!

night Clyde was watching a movie that seemed like it was lasting
forever. When I mentioned to him that it must be a very long movie he

like to publish my blog in the morning but the day didn't just get away
from me. It rocketed right out the door and has probably landed in the

I
like to wear decent clothes when I leave the house so I have to change a
lot. As soon as I get home I take off the jewelry and put on clothes
that Good Will would probably hand back to me.
The other day as I
was changing back into my house uniform Clyde was lying on the bed in
his usual stained t-shirt and baggy pants that are either pjs or just
look like pjs.
I told him that just because he wears his Sunday best around the house doesn't mean I have to.
You can imagine the look he gave me. Sometimes you don't need pictures.

I have another technology rant.
The
other day I called a number that I have called a zillion times and was
told it was out of order. I looked online and there was the number I
always call. I tried again. Not in service. So I called an office
connected with this office in downtown Radford.
The clerk tried
the number and had no problem so I tried again. Not in service. I
called the downtown office again and asked them to a call the number and
have them call me.
Finally, contact. I informed the clerk that
the number on the site was incorrect because the number that showed up
on my phone was different. She said it was correct. They have five
different lines. Why wouldn't it work for me?
As irritating as
that was my new mouse I call Zippy the Wonder Mouse, because it works,
was acting up and zooming all over the screen without me. I called
Clyde and said I was going to slam the phone into the computer and throw
them through the window. He said good - then we would only have one
bill - the bill to fix the window. We don't want to be cold.
Well, that was a fun rant. Time to smile and think of the Holidays!

Clyde
and I both got a kick out of this one! My Line Dance class did one of
our Christmas programs at a Retirement Center on Saturday.
As we
were setting up, a very nice gentleman started talking to me about his
background. He was of Italian descent so I told him I was half
Italian. He asked which half? I cracked up. I had never thought of it
that way but he was not joking. He just wanted to know whether my Dad
or Mom was Italian.
Anyway, here's to my great, first generation in America, Italian Dad who is no longer with us! We all miss you Dad!
