The roof is done! I may take a picture of it to remember it by as the weather starts working on it.
Anyway, we are still picking up nails and the head guy inspected everything and said he would be back with a magnet to make sure all the nails are off the grounds.
Yes! No more very loud cussing and banging by my window! The job is done!

Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler
Oftentimes Clyde and I don't get a lot of sleep. Lots of noise when the windows are open. Dogs, dogs, dogs. I wish they didn't have to bark every time a leaf falls off a tree. Well, it seems that way.
The other day I was awakened by a dog that just barked continuously for a solid fifteen minutes at 6:30. Clyde said the same dog woke him up at 2:00. He also saw a full grown buck on our street.
Maybe that is why we have so many barking dogs. There is no hunting in the city limits so Clyde says they are all hitching a ride to their Sanctuary City. I wish they would go somewhere else so I could sleep.

Second
day of the new year and there is a puddle in my studio. Yikes! A roof
repair man came over and informed us that our roof shingles are 20 year
shingles so we have been living on borrowed time.
Time to fork out the
big bucks for a new roof. Not the way I wanted to start 2017, but
that's life. Cheers! I am going to have to say that a bunch of times
to myself. Drip, drip, drip.

Painting
can be such an aggravating experience. What I want and what I get are
not always the same thing. Actually, as I told my students, you never
get exactly what you want, but if you work hard you will get close.
I may have mentioned before something a teacher said to me that I think about a lot.
Scraping
off paint is a good thing. It means you are learning something. The
other day I asked Clyde what was the most important thing an artist
learns when she scrapes paint off. He replied, not to bang your head
against the wall? No. The very high cost of paint.
Here's to a
new year and hopefully some great sales. I live to paint but I can't
take them with me and oil paint is very expensive.
