Before I tell this story, I need to say we live very close to the Fire Station.
Tuesday,
I finally figured out something on Youtube that has been driving me
crazy! I have such a hard time with that site. I will always remember
the time our young computer friend couldn't help me with one problem and
I finally figured that one out! Proud day!
I
was so excited that I ran outside to tell Clyde. I told him that after
all the time I put in trying to figure it out, my success seemed like
such a great accomplishment!
He said a great
accomplishment would be to see the computer soaring over the Fire
Station, gaining acceleration, and landing on Pluto without any
assistance from NASA.
Clyde doesn't like computers. No kidding! Right?

I don't think I am going to seize the beach today but I will
get a lot of work done and get out and walk. Such beautiful weather! I
hope I can get to the beach at Claytor Lake on Wednesday. No time
tomorrow but the water is calling and I will get out there soon with my
new inner tube float. Looking forward to it!
Here
is the second stage of Pawleys Eve. I am very pleased with the intense
surface quality but there are a few changes to be made. I don't have
this stage on my website yet but will add it later today or tomorrow for

other day I almost made a serious driving error with Clyde in the car.
I guess I am one of those people that can't chew gum and walk at the
same time. I never make these crazy errors when I am by myself and I
have never made this one.
Yesterday I
mentioned the error to Clyde and said I hoped I wasn't getting
Alzheimers. He said the error I almost made didn't seem like
Alzheimers.
I replied that maybe it is Stupidheimers. In that case I may have started that disease many years ago.
New word for the first day of this week!

I am trying to cut back on my workaholic ways a little so I
have put myself on the clock. I am counting all the hours I work in a
day and see if I can work in more fun time - especially on the week end
like normal people.
Whoops! I used the
"N" word! I know I can't really use that word when I am talking about
myself. Oh well. Some people go crazy. Maybe a crazy artist can
aspire to be normal. There's that word again!
Time to clock out and watch part of a movie. Cheers!

Every
once in a while we have some crazy electrical problem to deal with. A
few days ago the fluorescent light over the kitchen sink went out. It
was out for two days and I assumed the bulb had died. I hadn't gotten
around to getting another one, when, on the morning of the third day it
came back on and stayed on.
I called Clyde
at work and thanked him for getting up in the middle of the night and
getting a new one at Walmart and replacing the old bulb for me.
He said welcome and to please call any time to thank him for fixing something he didn't fix.
Turns out the ballast was bad and our great electrician fixed it with a smaller one with a much brighter light!

Trying real hard to get everything done and falling behind.
Sometimes I feel like I am trying to push water up hill and then an
alarm goes off and I have to quit and all the water smacks me right in
the face.
Oh well, I did get to paint for a while and now I have a zillion other things to do before the end of the day alarm goes off.

One
of Clyde's co-workers likes to get contributions to play the lottery.
Right now the lottery is 300 million and he collected a dollar from
three other workers, including Clyde.
If they win Clyde will receive 80 million. If they lose he will lose a dollar.
I told Clyde that maybe the worker that started this Lottery Co-op should give everyone a candy bar if they lose.
Then I realized if he gives everyone a candy bar that would just about be the whole budget.
I really don't see 80 million or a free candy bar in our future.

We are having a very soggy Fourth here in Southwest Virginia
so we won't be going to the activities in Bisset Park this morning.
Usually this is a hot, sunny day but not this year. Oh well, hopefully
the fireworks will still go off this evening.

our conversations the upcoming presidential election seems to take
prominence these days. There are so many interesting things to say
about both candidates.
I mentioned to
Clyde that I was amazed at all the support the two candidates are
getting. His reply was people always believe there is a nut in shining
armour.
Maybe that armour is so shiny that people aren't really seeing what's inside.

Back to oils and working away on a small one. I am going to
start work on a very important painting next week so I needed to get
back to my main medium so I won't be scraping off expensive paint when I
start the large one. As usual, I had a bad start since it has been a
while but things came together today. Below is the first stage of
another Pawleys Island evening scene along the marsh side. Love that
beach resort!

One
great thing about being an artist is we don't really grow up. Maybe
some do but I definitely didn't. I have always been a responsible adult
but still a child at heart.
I love to
swim laps at Claytor Lake and they allow floats in part of the lake so
the other day I bought an inner tube to rock around in and tried to blow
it up. It was so hard that I took breaks during the day to work on it
and it was still practically flat when it was time to pick up my son.
When
I got home, much to my surprise it was completely inflated. Clyde got
it done in a few minutes. I was amazed and he said now we know for sure
which one of us is full of hot air.
And I thought it was me!

We
are getting so much rain lately that it is hard to get the grass mowed
with a soaked yard. The other day Clyde said he had intended to mow
the yard but then we had another deluge and I said you will either have
to get a goat or chew on it yourself.
He said he was just the old goat to get it done.
Okay,
people have to be really up there in age to consider us young but I
don't think we are old goat status yet or, at least I would like to
think we aren't.

Clyde
and I spend a lot of time on the computer but not a lot of time on our
phones. I went from the simplest type of phone without camera,
internet, etc., to a smart phone.
I have
had so many problems with my phone. The other day my sister called and
it didn't ring. She wrote me on Facebook that she left a message. When
I checked, the phone had a message but then when I tried to find it, it
disappeared.
I told her on Facebook to try
again. When the phone rang, I pressed the button and the end call button
lit up so I let out a four letter word. Then I heard my sister say
hello and wondered what the four letter word was about.
My smart phone is way smarter than me. Clyde says for us the phone is a new four letter word - fone.

I have been trying all week to get to the lake but the
weather is not cooperating. I had all my stuff in my bag, ready to go,
and it started to sprinkle. I can still walk in my studio so today

Like most people, we have two cars. They are getting old.
One of them is thirteen years old and the other one is seventeen.
I mentioned to Clyde that our cars are now teenagers. I hope we brought them up right.
He said they would probably just drive off and leave us for good.
