We are having a very soggy Fourth here in Southwest Virginia
so we won't be going to the activities in Bisset Park this morning.
Usually this is a hot, sunny day but not this year. Oh well, hopefully
the fireworks will still go off this evening.

I
have finished the second stage of Pawleys Eve and I am pleased with the
intense color contrast and mood. Not done yet but prints will be

In
our conversations the upcoming presidential election seems to take
prominence these days. There are so many interesting things to say
about both candidates.
I mentioned to
Clyde that I was amazed at all the support the two candidates are
getting. His reply was people always believe there is a nut in shining
armour.
Maybe that armour is so shiny that people aren't really seeing what's inside.

Back to oils and working away on a small one. I am going to
start work on a very important painting next week so I needed to get
back to my main medium so I won't be scraping off expensive paint when I
start the large one. As usual, I had a bad start since it has been a
while but things came together today. Below is the first stage of
another Pawleys Island evening scene along the marsh side. Love that
beach resort!

One
great thing about being an artist is we don't really grow up. Maybe
some do but I definitely didn't. I have always been a responsible adult
but still a child at heart.
I love to
swim laps at Claytor Lake and they allow floats in part of the lake so
the other day I bought an inner tube to rock around in and tried to blow
it up. It was so hard that I took breaks during the day to work on it
and it was still practically flat when it was time to pick up my son.
When
I got home, much to my surprise it was completely inflated. Clyde got
it done in a few minutes. I was amazed and he said now we know for sure
which one of us is full of hot air.
And I thought it was me!

We
are getting so much rain lately that it is hard to get the grass mowed
with a soaked yard. The other day Clyde said he had intended to mow
the yard but then we had another deluge and I said you will either have
to get a goat or chew on it yourself.
He said he was just the old goat to get it done.
Okay,
people have to be really up there in age to consider us young but I
don't think we are old goat status yet or, at least I would like to
think we aren't.

I was able to spend time at the lake yesterday! Finally, no
rain! My guys are planning to go with me this Wednesday if the weather

Clyde
and I spend a lot of time on the computer but not a lot of time on our
phones. I went from the simplest type of phone without camera,
internet, etc., to a smart phone.
I have
had so many problems with my phone. The other day my sister called and
it didn't ring. She wrote me on Facebook that she left a message. When
I checked, the phone had a message but then when I tried to find it, it
disappeared.
I told her on Facebook to try
again. When the phone rang, I pressed the button and the end call button
lit up so I let out a four letter word. Then I heard my sister say
hello and wondered what the four letter word was about.
My smart phone is way smarter than me. Clyde says for us the phone is a new four letter word - fone.

I have been trying all week to get to the lake but the
weather is not cooperating. I had all my stuff in my bag, ready to go,
and it started to sprinkle. I can still walk in my studio so today
would be a good day to get some more work done but I would rather be
swimming.

Like most people, we have two cars. They are getting old.
One of them is thirteen years old and the other one is seventeen.
I mentioned to Clyde that our cars are now teenagers. I hope we brought them up right.
He said they would probably just drive off and leave us for good.
Or fall apart. I am betting on the latter. They are starting to hobble along.

can always count on Clyde for humor. He has often mentioned to me that
people didn't appreciate his sense of humor when he was growing up so
he would usually keep it to himself.
I think
he is hilarious and I hope readers here appreciate it. I have had

I
have two enemies right now - Image Thieves and Moths. Spending a lot
of time fighting both of them. I have been cleaning out our shelves due
to an infestation of moths. Also finding more internet thieves that
insist on stealing my work for print sales and free downloads.
I hate the war I am fighting with both enemies but the Image Thieves certainly take first place.

next presidential election has me scared. I have never seen such a
strange race and I do worry about the future of this country. I am not
going to give out any names but I think Clyde is right. He says one of
the presidential hopefuls has enough hot air to send us right off the
edge.

am spending more and more of my time fighting the image thieves. I
don't even have to do a reverse image search on Google. I just put my
name in Google and find sites that have stolen my work for sale as
prints or free downloads. Argh!
I have two cases pending right now. I hope my lawyers can get the compensation that I deserve.
I
only sell prints on Fine Art America and Zazzle. If you see my work
for sale on another site, please, please, do not buy them there. I will
not be compensated and it hurts my sales!

honestly live to paint, but I am not a Sunday painter. I am a trained
artist with a Master of Fine Art in Painting and Printmaking. You can

irritations.
Sometimes he cuts me off with a quip. I was about to lodge another computer gripe when he said he knew what it was.

What
a computer Monday! One thing after the next. My copy paste would only
copy paste part of the text and then I had an awful time getting my
keyboard going with new batteries. As usual, it was a stupid think I
didn't know. Clyde usually replaces batteries. Anyway, I got to finish
Green Meadow Mist so why am I complaining?

Not
sure but I may have mentioned that my mother always said to drive
defensively. I think that was good advice but these days Clyde and I
think the saying should be Drive to stay Alive!
Our
recent trip to the shore was so congested with traffic I was quite
worried we would be in some sort of accident. Who was the fool that
raised the speed limit to 70? If you think people should drive 70mph
then the speed limit should be 50mph.
I know I saw some driving at 90mph, zipping back and forth in the lanes.
I
know I have mentioned this before but I really think I would like the
bumper sticker that says, "I slow down for tail gators". I would swear I
had one car about an inch away from mine on the interstate.
