Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler

 

I came across a very interesting fact that made me laugh at first.  There actually is a fear of mirrors phobia.  Of course, I had to tell Clyde in hopes that he would come up with another mirror joke.  I laughed because I figured the fear was how one looks, especially if weight has been gained or hair lost.

My favorite Clyde mirror joke is the one about how the mirror wants to die so it doesn't have to reflect us anymore and come back in the next life as a dog dish.  He didn't come up with anything this time.

Spectrophobia is a fear of spirits appearing in a mirror, especially in the dark!  That's one fear I don't have and don't want!  I have enough night mares thank you very much.  LOL!

I like to wear skirts.  When we were first married I wore them a lot and then for some reason I just started wearing pants most of the time.  Recently I found the greatest skirt!  It is a pull on so it isn't binding no matter how much I eat.   I hate the way pants bind in the waist.  It is so uncomfortable.

I am definitely going to look for more of these easy wear, easy care skirts.  I told Clyde he should get back to the dress of one of his ancestral groups,  the Scottish, and wear a kilt for comfort.  He said he would wear a kilt when Noah's Ark lands in Radford.  Lots of rain out there today but I don't think he will be wearing one anytime soon. LOL!

When I am on the computer I often run into the next room to tell Clyde when I see a good funny!  I am always hoping he can add to it.  This one has a serious note to it, but it is still funny.  On Facebook there was a picture of a car with a broken back glass.  The caption was, Free Car Ventilation Service.  Leave a dog in an over heated car and we will do the rest!

You really have to love painting to put up with the aggravation.  Sometimes it is so difficult and then I remember that I don't let them drive me nuts and just keep going.  My portrait of my husband is bugging me big time and I may have to alter the whole thing.  I am not going to scrap it but it does have some problems that must be worked out.

I can't explain most of what is bothering me but another artist would understand.  I need to get to the end and put it away.  It is amazing how most of my paintings improve greatly with age.  They are just like people that you love.  No matter how old they get, they still look great!

The other day Clyde was telling me about some symptoms that seemed like menopause.  Hot flashes and other things that we women go through.  I asked him if he was going through Manopause.

He said no but he was sure he was going through Stupidinfinity.  The stupid never ends.  Just keeps going.

When Clyde and I were first married I was very conscious of weight control as I have been most of my life.  I was worried that I would start to lose the battle of the bulge so I made sure I exercised every day.  One day as I was working out in our bedroom Clyde was lying down eating some vanilla wafers.  He looked at me and said, "Lose a calorie for me!"  Now, that would be great if someone could work out for you and you could just lie down and eat!

Some genius needs to work on that one!

I live to paint. I really do and it is great when I find homes for my originals.  The patron in Richmond emailed me to say the painting is perfect, looks better than the listing, and my packaging was perfect!  I love to hear all that since computer monitors are all set up differently.

I order greeting cards of my work once in a while to check on how the work looks online. So far, I am doing a great job.  Still, that doesn't mean the viewer is seeing exactly what I have uploaded so it is great to hear from happy patrons!

I am also an amateur pianist and I love to play my piano every day.  It is hard to find the time but I usually can get in a decent amount of time.   I am concerned that my fingers are not as good as they used to be. They don't hurt, so I don't think I have arthritis, just some stiffness from age.

Oh well,  I can still play and enjoy it very much.  I was adding my music to my Youtube videos but that got to be too time consuming and Youtube has great background music!

Ants, ants, ants.  They were having quite a party in the bedroom. Now they have adjourned to the bath room again.  I put out the drops and a queen dies but others must take her place because they are all over the counter once again.

They snub their noses at me and give me dirty looks because I haven't put out any drops today.  We are getting low on the stuff and Clyde is not sure he can get more.  I think a friend gave him this bottle.  Guess I will have to go online for more.

I am about ready to pick them up one at a time and heave them out the door!  See how fast they come back in for drops after that.

People are always talking about how awful Mondays are but since I am such a workaholic one day is pretty much the same as the next.  Well, today I am making an exception.  I have been having some trouble with a sore knee and I have had to get up at night and take aspirin the last two nights so I definitely do not like this Monday. 

My son always says Mondays and Tuesdays are rough on him.  Today I agreed with him. 

Oh well, lots to do and I hope my knee doesn't act up again.

Clyde is one of most non-materialistic people I have ever known.  He doesn't care about clothes and all his possessions have to do with his research on wildlife and his writing.  He firmly believes the old saying, "The more you own, the more it owns you."  He would like to win the lottery so he wouldn't have to work and so he could fund all his environmental projects.

I asked him what he would do if he won millions of dollars.  His curmudgeon response was he would buy a few acres, put a trailer on it, and hide from the world.

I can just see him setting up operations from a trailer!  Binoculars in one hand and a computer mouse in the other.  I truly believe he could solve many of our environmental problems and he could do it without harming industry. Yes, he is that smart.

I am pleased and a little sad to sell one of my favorite Blue Ridge Mountain paintings, "Another Rocky Knob".  This one is special as it is the main site where my husband has researched birds and butterflies most of his life.  He also leads hawk watches there in the fall.

As I have said before, I live to paint but I can't take them with me so I am glad this painting is going to a good home in Richmond, VA.  The patron is buying it for her boyfriend for his birthday!  Original artwork is a great gift.  It is the unique expression of one artist.  Of course, prints will still be available.

 Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler

I am still griping about how little time there is in a day to get everything done.  Both my husband and a Wordpress friend said if I had more hours I would just find more things to do.  They are right but I would like to try out an addition.  I think I would take a little more time off if there were more hours in the day.

Clyde said if it were possible to add two hours to the day the government would tax you for four!

Where is that Time Fairy?  My days are getting shorter and shorter and it has nothing to do with the sun.  I have so much to do each day that it is mind boggling.  We are all always saying we wish someone could add hours to the day.  I wonder, if someone could actually add hours to the day, would we gripe even louder?  Probably.  Cheers!  Got to move on to the next task!

Clyde works in Government Documents at a library so he is up on all the latest docs and also keeps track of various books he would like to order.  Today he is ordering Advanced Fossil Fuels and their effect on the Environment.  That may not be the exact title and I don't want to call him again right now, so we will go with that.

He said sometimes he feels like an advanced fossil.  Me, too.

Now if I could just find the loose hair that is tickling my arm I will be a happy fossil!
