I am still choking on pastel dust but not as much as I was. My methods always change and now I am using a gentler approach to the medium which does not create as much dust. My oil painting technique has changed a number of times and I was especially happy when I was content with thin layers. It was so much less expensive than what it is now. I am not happy now unless I use my own type of impasto technique with brushes.
Oh well. I am not only inspired to make artwork but I am also inspired to actively sell it. Can't paint without expensive supplies. Sometimes I have a really hard time letting one go but then I remember I can't take it with me and am glad I found a good home for it. Such is the life of a crazy artist!

Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler
Sometimes Clyde is so tired at night that he falls asleep in the chair while watching TV. I told him that happens because he gets up at the Creak of Dawn. I know, because I hear the dawn creaking when he gets up. He countered with, he gets up at the Creep of Dawn and he is the creep that I am hearing getting up so early. Well, either way his fatigue is justified. I'm sure I would fall asleep if I got up at 4:30 most mornings.
Here's a cute joke from someone that needs more sleep.
I already want to take a nap tomorrow. I think that is a good saying for Clyde!

Glad to step away from the computer and into my mother-in-law's house! We always have a great Thanksgiving there! Clyde has terrific relatives and we get into lively conversations and a lot of laughing. I wish everyone could have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I am so thankful that we are all physically well and doing well.

More computer fun. My mind reels with sarcastic comments which is a great line in one of the Peanuts comics. We now have a new ant-virus system that is blocking things right and left. For some strange reason, it is blocking a blog here that I like very much. If Lee of Planet Earth Newsletter sees this, I can't click on your blog.
Time to get a young computer guy to help us out again.
Clyde is at it again with his crazy computer comments. When Ask Jeeves was around to get information he asked Jeeves how much money he made and where he lived. Now, we have Siri which we don't do anything with. If we did Clyde would ask Siri when would computers take over the world. Of course, she would say they already have. Yikes!!!

Well, I am back to choking on pastel dust as I try to finish a family portrait. Question to self. Why do I do this again? Oh yes, because I love it. Like my Mom always said, one person's heaven is another person's hell. My artwork is my heaven but sometimes it seems like the other place. I had better get back to work. Will wonders never cease. A while back our can opener opened its last can and I have not replaced it yet because I am not sure if I want another one like it. It pressures the top off so there are no jagged edges which is great, but not if it isn't going to last long. Well, today I decided to try it one more time and it worked just fine.
I called Clyde and told him about the can opener miracle. Actually, I said it must have been on vacation. He said he hoped it sent a post card. Ha ha. Anyway, here is a cute appliance joke.
Facebook is like the refrigerator. You know there is nothing new but you keep checking it anyway. True!

We finally have hot and cold water! Still, a part has to be replaced on the system but it looks like we won't have to buy a new one! I thought just having cold water was bad but on Friday there was a big problem and we had to turn all the water off and drain the solar tank. That really stunk but the repair guy came in on Saturday and fixed the pipes that were leaking. He did that for free! I look forward to taking a hot shower today - the first one in our house is three weeks!

Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler
2017 has been The Fall of the House of Kessler. I always loved The Fall of the House of Usher by Poe. Since we had to get a new roof and were without hot water for three weeks and all water for one day-it seemed like we had our own fall this year, nothing like that great story, of course. Clyde spent eight hours assisting the repairman yesterday since he was not able to have his assistant present. Also, the repairman is fighting cancer. His wife wants him to quit but he says the work keeps his mind off the cancer and the chemotherapy. He is winning the battle.
I told Clyde I was going to try to take a shower and see if there is enough hot water even though the system is not completely repaired. He said not to scream if it gets cold or he will think I am having a Psycho shower.
I know I won't have a Psycho shower but if the water turns icy I will be sure to have the first showing of the short film, A Screamo Shower.
Well, mission accomplished a little while ago and no screams! Yes!!!!!

Yesterday we spent well over an hour taking buckets of water from the solar unit to the sink as it just dripped, and dripped, and dripped. The repair guy thought he had figured out what to do so we would have hot water before he really got in and repaired it.
Well, it didn't work. We found out another thing that was wrong internally so it just started spewing water from the tank that he filled up again. I hope we don't have to pay a big repair bill and then have to replace the unit anyway.
I think we need a crystal ball for this one.

Tuesday I had my mouth raked by a very good dental hygienist. It took a little longer this time so I asked if there was a lot of build up. She said there was more than usual on the lower teeth. Okay, I brush my teeth after everything I eat. Then I use one of those tiny brush tooth pick things to make sure I got it all. I floss at least three times a day and I have a kit in my purse.
I think the only way I can keep my teeth clean is to stop eating or only eat through a straw. Anyway, my mouth was quite sore all evening and I figured I would have night mares, which I did.
The next day I told Clyde that I think when we are uncomfortable we get nightmares. The other nightmares I get when I am not in pain are because I am thinking of you. I couldn't resist that one even though it is not at all true. Just trying to keep some humor in the blog!
He is a good sport and agreed that one would be a good funny for the blog.

Yikes, what a day! We got hacked and had to spend time and money getting our computer back. I have no idea how it happened. I have not clicked on anything out of the ordinary and I did not download anything. I hope that is the end of that problem that sucked up most of the evening. Computers are the worse time suckers ever.

Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler
Well, we still do not have hot water. I think it has been three or four weeks. I am starting to lose count. The repair guy yesterday worked hard on it and repaired part of it but now he needs a part that will be hard to find due to the age of the system. He has a similar solar system that is still going strong after 40 years so he thinks he can get this one going again! We may not have to replace it.
When I talked to my mother about it she said we would probably have to replace it. I told Clyde that and he asked why. Because it is so old.
I beat him to the punch line this time with, No I will not be replacing you. Here's a cute age joke!
The bad news is that I have a bad memory and am no good at math. The good news is that I have no idea how old I am.

Please click on my latest Youtube! I am so pleased that I was able to stabilize it, add music, and modify the contrast and color! I figured out what the problem was. In the past when I edited a video, it played just fine as I was doing that. Now there are a lot of skips, but they don't show up after the editing is done!

Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler
Poor Clyde has to listen to me gripe about playing the piano for the church. No one else will do it except the pastor's wife and they are leaving soon so I guess I will have to play more then I am playing now. Yuck! Stage fright is an awful thing that I can't seem to shake but I get through it and keep on trying to talk others into taking a turn. They are all turning a deaf ear to me.
Saw a cute musician's joke. The beginning of a piece had gently and four p's for very soft. The caption is "How about if I just don't play?" Sounds good to me!
