Well, we went to vote at the Registrar and the parking lot was completely filled and the surrounding streets were also clogged. We will try again on Monday. We have until October 31st to vote at the Registrar and we want to vote early. Such an important election and we are worried about sending a ballot in by mail.

So pleased to sell another Skyline Beauty painting to a great California patron! I have used many different approaches to this series and some stand out more than others to me but DC Burst stands out a lot! I was very pleased with the electric look my brushwork gives this exciting city!

I will never forget seeing Godspell at Fords theater many years ago.

Not much to say today but plenty to do in the studio. I am immersed in my latest painting. It has such an intense atmosphere. I love to work with florals and this one is coming along very well.

I am also getting to the end of cleaning out the studio and that is a big accomplishment considering every thing else I do every day. I am looking forward to getting to the bed room next. Lots of sorting that needs to be done there.

One small thing every day and eventually the work gets done! Have a great weekend!

Blue Ridge Parkway Artist

Still working on a floral that is coming along and bursting with color contrast. It is soaking wet right now so I will have to wait to get to the final layer. When I say layer I really mean final stage. All of my paintings have many layers in each session, including the ones I demonstrate on Youtube.

I am very pleased with the comments of appreciation for what I do on my channel! I try to switch around a lot so viewers can see all my different approaches to my artwork. I am especially pleased with my latest demo of a Blue Ridge sunset that was started and completed in acrylic paint.

With the exception of some skyline paintings that include mountains I don't think I have any blue ridge paintings in acrylic until now. It was a great experience to use a medium that dries quickly so I could get to many stages in one day.

Sometimes I feel like a magician. I can get so much of a demo painting done in about twenty minutes. The key to that ability is many decades of practice. I can't remember the exact quote but I am pretty sure Houdini once said that anyone could do what he did with forty years of practice. That applies to art too.

I know I could not paint the way I do now when I was young. Lots and lots of practice. When people buy my artwork they are paying for my costs, my time, and my unique expertise that was developed over decades and is still developing.

I have been so concerned about the upcoming election that it has been difficult to concentrate on my latest painting. It is coming along very well in spite of all the distractions that keep plaguing my mind. There is so much false information on the internet. I hope people take the time to fact check what they see on Facebook and other sites that have political posts.

I don't know if I have mentioned this before but it bears repeating. Whenever I hear a politician bragging about success, democrat or republican, I go to sites that I am almost positive are accurate and check out the issue over time. For example, progress in job growth can be ascertained over the years at the Department of Labor.

There are many sources for stats on the current pandemic. One man on Facebook was comparing the current pandemic deaths in the US to the Swine Flu 2009 deaths. He said there were 60 million swine flu deaths and under 6 million Covid-19 deaths so far. If you look up the Swine Flu stats you will see a number of sources that claim there were around 10,000 deaths.

We need to be vigilant to get the truth as much as possible.

I have high hopes for my latest floral. It is a cultivated flower garden and I am pleased with the spacing and the value pattern. Now to get to the hard part. The expression that I can't explain is always the most important part of the painting for me. It will be an intricate system of warm and cool colors but it is difficult to get the intricacy that I want and still have a strong surface quality.

Yeah, I bet anyone reading this knows exactly what I am talking about. I hardly know myself what I am talking about. Oh well, time to get to the journey. I can't paint tomorrow due to schedule problems and that is always a problem for me.

I was listening to Dr. Fauci regarding safe practices during this epidemic and learned something I didn't know. A person' blood type plays a minimal role in regards to the infection. Type A people are slightly more susceptible to Covid-19 but he said there was very little difference between blood types regarding this virus. Good to know since I have A negative.

Clyde's bird research is mostly limited to out door excursions in our back yard or out door excursions on our front porch. Staying put due to the pandemic. I like to tease him about his travels when he heads out to one of his posts.

Don't get lost.

I'll use GPS to get back home.

You don't even use that in the car.

Well, strange circumstances call for strange new safe guards.

Wow, I am sitting on my hands when I come across certain posts on Facebook. As I said I am no longer posting rebuttal comments because I don't think they help and I just get called offensive names by people that disagree.

Still, I would like to say here where I think most, if not all of my followers are like-minded people, that we need to fact check some of the outrageous claims by some people on Facebook. If you think that the Swine Flu was worse than Covid-19 so we shouldn't have to wear masks or close schools since that didn't happen with the Swine Flu, please look up the rebuttal articles.

Covid-19 is much worse and it is not on the way out any time soon. On a good note, I am having a great time going back to older work that I wanted to change in some ways. Still getting some clean up work done and hiding out with my family.

I feel like we are in a prison but it really is a nice prison! Hope we will be sprung in 2021.
