I have been battling ants today.  We have a lot of trouble with ants so I went to work scrubbing the table and floor where they have congregated the most. They are also on the counters and having a big party in the bathroom.  I guess toothpaste is where the action is.

Anyway, I did a lot of the Yoga table top pose today and thought I had done some good.  An hour later they were covering up the table again.  That is when I shrewdly noticed I had not moved the plastic jar of honey.  The trail was leading right to it.  So, got rid of the honey and now there are a few stragglers wondering where the Free Food Festival is. 

Hopefully, we can eat on our table without obnoxious visitors this evening.  Fingers crossed!

In this one the languid pose says it all.  I took care to apply the charcoal and conte crayon in a flowing manner that echoes the mood of the model. 

I will never forget what my mother said to me when I was a teenager and had just done something stupid.  She yelled that I lived in a dream world. 

Until that moment I had never realized that.  She was right and it is a great place to be!

In this one the hat on a nude model is fun and whimsical!  The bars of the chair make it appear as if the model is purposely hiding and in her own world.  

The energetic shadow has a foreboding quality that makes for a great visual accent.

I hope this will be the last of the ant chronicles for this summer.  The troops have slowed down.  They aren't marching in formation or sitting around the poison drops in a perfect circle.

Now I mostly see them peeking out from behind objects on the counter.  The other day a bunch of them were criss-crossing on one of the counters.  Since they were moving in a random fashion I decided I could put peanut butter on a cracker with out moving to the other side of the kitchen.

As soon as I got the cracker out one of them made a bee line for it!  I yelled, "Do you mind?"  

This is my cracker!  Move on!  It did and I finished making the crackers.  The nerve of these ants!

Floyd Fest

Floyd Fest is a great celebration of life !

The event began in 2002, and spans four days each year with on-site camping and multiple stages featuring rock, bluegrass, reggae, folk, Yiddish, Cajun, and world music performers!

In addition to music, the festival features local arts and crafts, dance workshops, morning yoga lessons, story telling, poetry readings, and a Children's Universe tent.

At FloydFest, we believe in the WHOLE SUM Festival experience- which is what makes our event more than just a music festival- it’s a total vacation package. Our beautiful Appalachian Mountain venue lends itself to breaking away between sets for a hike, bike ride, even a nearby float trip.

Our Children’s Universe features performances, workshops, play equipment, and basically enough FUN STUFF to keep the kids entertained (and educated!) for four entire days.

The Healing Arts area offers ‘hands-on’ healing ranging from traditional massage to the more nuanced alternatives, as well as morning yoga classes and other natural refreshers.

The Teen Scene provides a space and outlet for our ‘rising adults’ to both get space and make healthy connections, and our Workshops and Panels are educational, informative and  engaging platforms for the exchange of information and ideas.

We are still fighting the ants with little success.  I put out the glucose drops that contains poison and they just seem to party down!  They looked sluggish the other day but now they are back to perfect circles around the stuff. 

Maybe they are playing cards. 

Until today the small species stayed clear of the large ones but I guess they either called a truce or they are good friends now.  

Both types are everywhere in the kitchen and bathroom.

I'm sure a manufacturer will come up with another full proof method for getting rid of them so they can become immune to that one as well.  We are the fools that prove the pesticide works for a while and then the ants become immune to it!
