Wow! You know you are getting a good Yoga work out when your arm pits sweat during all those Downward Facing Dogs! Like I always say, I take class because I can't make myself get a really good work out at home. Of course, right now I am always working out at home. My great teacher sends classes with Zoom so I have someone telling me what to do. I do yoga on the other days but nothing like what we did today.

What a workaholic. Now that I am not going out much I have found more work to do. Oh well, good to be busy during this sad time. I woke up today thinking about all the things I want to do and was trying to think of that phrase that means Seize the Day.

I asked Clyde. Carp the dime?

Carpe dodo?

No, Carpe Diem! That's it. Well, I better, Carp the dime, Carpe dodo or Carpe Diem this Tuesday before it shoots right into Wednesday! Stay safe everyone!

Blue Ridge Parkway Artist

Sometimes a painting experience is over the top! My latest Blue Ridge painting looked so good in the second stage that I was worried I would lose the strong effect in the next phase. Was I ever wrong! I am achieving the most complex painting that I have ever done and I will be shoving any impediment to work to get to it tomorrow.

I don't think extreme attention to detail necessarily makes for a successful painting. There will always be so much more to painting than trying to represent what I see that can't really be represented due to the constant change of light and shade throughout the day. That is why I work from a photograph that I took of a specific moment that I want to embellish.

I put myself into the work with decisions about color and texture that are sometimes in the photograph and sometimes my reaction to the paint as it is applied to the surface.

Anyway, back to detail. I do like to get as much detail as possible in these atmospheric landscapes because of the beautiful colors that occur as I work on tricky areas. It is not really about the detail. It is about the color and I am getting more color than ever before!

I doubt that everyone remembers the Pet Rock Craze from the seventies. The guy that came up with this crazy pet idea walked away with 15 million for it. The rocks came in boxes with air holes. Anyway, it was quite an amazing marketing trend that didn't last long.

Well the other day I was going back to work on all my computer chores and Clyde said have fun.

I jokingly said I have a lot of fun working on the computer but I'm not sure the computer is happy about it.

I have seen pet rocks have more fun than computers.

I'm sure if a computer could talk it would agree!

Wow, try to do something different in the morning and the whole day gets eaten up! I can't believe I had such a hard time making some chocolate bread using a bread machine! I had such a hard time finding all the ingredients and then I was shocked when I saw that I didn't have any yeast! I always have yeast because I make my own whole wheat bread.

Well, this time I dropped the ball and had to go to the store and get some and bring home a pile of mail I had to sort through. Finally got the bread machine going, cleaned up, and am back at my computer post. I'll bet is would be easier if I made bread from scratch like I used to.

Oh well, I am looking forward to trying chocolate bread for the first time!

Well, I managed to upload another Youtube! I am pleased that I have managed one a week for a long time! I didn't get a chance to make a Demo Youtube last week but I wanted to be sure to film one of my latest Blue Ridge Parkway painting. Be sure to click on it! I hate to say is sure is a Monday again but when your favorite hand made ceramic cup decides to break and a piece gashes your thumb, you do have the tendency to agree with Garfield! It took a very long time to stop bleeding but I don't think I need stitches. Well, I have managed to get a lot of things done in spite of the wound so can't complain too much.

Time to get to the next chore and I am looking forward to spaghetti tonight!

As usual, Clyde and I are complaining about TV commercials. I am just waiting for the networks to give more air time to the commercials than the programs. Anyway, we were talking about how great they are for the actors.

I have heard they get paid a lot.

Just think of how much money that actress that plays Flo makes!

That's nothing. What about that lizard on Geico. Think of the island that thing probably bought and all the lizards diving off the board of his mansion pool!

I don't really want to picture that. Not real fond of lizards.

I put myself into the work with decisions about color and texture that are sometimes in the photograph and sometimes my reaction to the paint as it is applied to the surface.

Anyway, back to detail. I do like to get as much detail as possible in these atmospheric landscapes because of the beautiful colors that occur as I work on tricky areas. It is not really about the detail. It is about the color and I am getting more color than ever before!
