Pleased to sell another print of Reaching Out and I know this is emergencies...

So pleased to sell yet another print of my best-seller, "Reaching Out".  This drawing sure gets around.  This time it went to a great patron in Naperville, Illinois.  It has been great to see it in Mindy's office on The Mindy Project and I hope it continues to reach new homes and offices.

Just got back from a great trip to New York!  My friends and I took in a bunch of Broadway shows and had time for the Guggenheim and MOMA. Saw some great Pollocks, Picassos, Cezannes, and Richters!  What a great time!

Neither my husband or I have a funny this week but I did see a great one on Facebook.  A cat on a phone is screaming, "I know this is for emergencies only!  I said I am out of coffee!

Now that is an emergency!

So pleased to sell a HUGE canvas print of Blue Ridge Jewels and Take the Belt Buckle Challenge...

I have sold a lot of large originals and large prints of my work but I was so pleased to sell my first huge(40"x50") canvas print of Blue Ridge Jewels!  This painting is one of my most colorful evening views of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia.  The painting is owned by a great California patron who gave me fantastic feedback for it and will be buying more in the future for her new home.  I have 61 images  in my Mega View folder in my portfolio and I hope more people will take advantage of a large vista landscape, still life, or portrait for their home.

I love carrot cake but my husband can't eat wheat and my son doesn't like it.  I offered to try to make it with rice flour but that idea went over like a lead balloon.  Finally I decided to make it and freeze half so I could get the rest later.  I can't eat a lot of it at a time since I have a tendency to gain weight.  The Battle of the Bulge has been my theme song since I was a kid.

I told my husband what I planned to do and he said I should make the whole cake.  Take the belt buckle challenge!  Keep eating the cake until you need to go to the next notch!

WISE GUY!  Half of the cake is in the frig and the other half is in the freezer.  I am winning the Battle of the Bulge and I'm not giving up now!

Be sure to check out my Limited Time Promotions on Fine Art America!  I put up three favorites every week.

Again, looking forward to the return of The Mindy Project September 17th!  Hope they have more shots of Reaching Out!

Loading Away and It is always a good day...

Still working away at uploading artwork.  The slides are not too much of a problem as long as I have ink in my printer but the ones I have to take outside are quite a pain.  Right now I am taking pictures of flat ware so I am taping them to the wall which is much easier then dragging my easel outside.  Still having a great time with my Kendall Expressions folder.  These paintings are my personal take on Expressionism which has always been a favorite style of art for me.  I like to switch mediums every now and then so it is great to be in Acrylics again.

We were at a friend's house in Childress and noticed the chickens that were walking around their yard.  They don't have chickens, but their neighbors do.  They looked like they were having a great day pecking everything in sight so I mentioned that to my husband.  He replied that it is always a good day when you are not on the menu.  He certainly has a point there.

Be sure to check out new work in Kendall Expressions!  I am working on a new one right now and hope to have it up soon!

Also, don't forget my Limited Time Promotions on Fine Art America.  I always have three up!.  Forty percent off the regular price!

The second season of The Mindy Project will air September 17th and I am looking forward to seeing my best seller on the set.  I hope they have more scenes in her office where it is located.

Patron is Happy and It is simple Arithmetic

I am so glad my patron for my latest portrait commission is happy.  I always check with them before it is completed to see if they are happy with the likeness.  She is thrilled with the painting and took a picture with her phone to show her husband.  Portraits are so tricky.  One of my favorite sayings is, Don't do portraits because there is always something wrong around the mouth.  I am proud to say I have always had 100% success rate with commissions and would be glad to do more.  This patron is making plans for the next commission of her daughter after this one is done.

As I have said before sometimes you just can't get to the mute button fast enough.  There is a commercial on now that is really irritating my husband.  The announcer claims it is simple physics, a body in motion tends to stay in motion.  My husband's response is, it is simple arithmetic.  You have a drug to sell me and I am not going to buy it.  The  answer is zero sales.

Be sure to check out my sales on Fine Art America in The Limited  Time section and look for my best seller, "Reaching Out", on The Mindy Project.  I have had to miss a few but I  did see it on the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 8th, and 18th episodes.  I hope it was visible last night.

So glad to sell another print of Natural Rhythm, three originals, and What kind of error do you want...

I am so pleased to sell another print of the popular painting, "Natural Rhythm", to a great patron in Louisiana!  Also, three of my small paintings went to a great patron in Arizona!  It is great to sell prints, but it is especially great to sell originals!  The three that were selected were vibrant pieces that I will miss - especially "Peachy Sunset".  The wonderful thing about these small works is I can scan them into the computer and buyers can get huge prints.  And to make my week even better, I am starting a portrait commission.  I like portrait commissions but they can be difficult.  So far, I have had no complaints.  I always have the patrons check the likeness in the early stages so they will be happy with the end product.

I hate to bother my husband about writing but he is a published writer and knows grammar better than I ever will.  If my life depended on my knowledge of the parts of speech I would be dead.  Grammar was hard for me.  Like a lot of artists I have trouble with words so sometimes I get my husband to proof-read things I write so there won't be any glaring errors.  His smart-alec response to my request is what kind of errors do you want? NO ERRORS, SMARTY PANTS!

Enjoyed the TV taping of The Hour of Joy and Should I put it on the floor?

I had a great day in Roanoke yesterday for the taping of my appearance on The Hour of Joy and I didn't trip or say anything particularly stupid!  The audience seemed to like my short talk and they especially liked the three large paintings I brought with me.  The crew put them up on easels and Joy commented that the one behind her made it look like she was outdoors!  The lighting was good and I put on my-I am not painfully shy and can do this act- that I did for twenty years at Radford University.  My back muscles were spasming big time afterwards.  People commented that I was perfectly composed and natural.  Maybe I should have gone into acting.  Anyway, it was great working with Joy and the crew.  Everyone was so nice!

The other day my husband was complaining that he couldn't reach the itchy spots with lotion on his back and I mentioned to him that there were other ways of getting the lotion on there. His reply was do you want me to squirt it on the floor and roll in it?  No, me, you could ask me to put it on, genius.

I put it on so now he isn't so miserable.

Check out my large canvas print specials on Fine Art America this week and "Reaching Out" on The Mindy Project.  So far there have been shots of it on the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 8th episodes.  It is in her office across from her desk.

Here are the paintings that will be on The Hour of Joy on March 10th!

Glad to sell another print of Reaching Out and They will just put you on a computer...

I am pleased to sell another large print of Reaching Out to a great patron in Louisville, Kentucky!. That print sure is getting around!  I haven't seen it on The Mindy Project in the last two episodes.  Mindy needs to get back into her office!  It is a lot of fun to see it there.  The print is still number one  on Fine Art America  in the search results for charcoal nudes, nude girl drawings, nude drawings, and black and white nude girls.

Be sure to check out my YouTube video of it and other nudes of mine.

I am spending more and more time on the internet working at promoting my artwork.  I keep discovering new ways to increase traffic which in turn increases my sitting time in front of the monitor.  My husband says I am addicted to the computer and I told him I can quit anytime I want to.  He said I needed help to quit this addiction but figures the cure would probably be some sort of therapy in front of the computer.  I guess I can handle that, since I am there most of the time anyway. BRING IT ON!   Oh well! I guess there are worse things in life than being a computer addict.  I don't play the games!

Be sure to check out this week's canvas print specials on Fine Art America.  Large 40% off prints of favorite paintings.  Just click on Limited Time at the top right of the site. Mine are on page three and four this time.

So Glad to be Back and You are Big....

Been down with a bad back spasm the last few days.  I am such a workalcoholic that I get so tired my back goes out.  It doesn't happen because I didn't bend my knees when I picked up something heavy. or when I accidentally fall, or if I reach higher than I should.  It just goes out.  I get to the point when I am really working hard and proud of my accomplishments and then, I guess my body says, Vacation time!  I was getting ready to go to bed and as I pulled up my pajama bottoms -Yikes!  Out for two days.  Oh well.  I'm back and trying not to work so hard but that is like asking time to stand still.  Not going to happen.

The other day I was delivering a Christmas package to my neighbor who is single and lives with her toy poodle named Yogi.  Her sister was visiting her.  Yogi looked to me like he had really porked out and I almost said, Yogi, you are so fat but I caught myself after a long pause and said big!  The neighbor's sister cracked up.  Did you hear that long pause before she almost said fat?  Sometimes the insults just come out no matter what you do.  The dog is like the neighbor's child so I hope I am not in the dog house.

Be sure to check out my Limited Time Promotions on Fine Art America and look for my best-selling print, Reaching Out, on The Mindy Project.  So far, the drawing has been visible on the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 8th episodes.  There will be new episodes starting January 8th!

Also, look for me and my paintings on The Hour of Joy on Fox TV out of Roanoke, VA.  My appearance is tentatively set for April 3rd,2013!

Painting Away and The Enabler

I am, as always, working very hard at my paintings.  Soon, I will have to take a break and get ready to be on The Hour of Joy which will be taped January 26th.  I am apprehensive about appearing on TV but I think it will be a great opportunity to attract more patrons to my work.  All I want to do is paint but I have to do other thing to promote it or I can't find homes for them.  I am real excited about my current small painting.  I think it is one of the most sensitive paintings I have ever done.  I look forward to uploading it when it is dry.

I like to sort laundry in our bedroom while my husband is watching TV.  When I get to his stuff I gently throw it at him and usually cover his face.  It is a fun game we play.  I told him that I must really be an aggressive bully to throw underwear at my husband.  His reply was, what about me?

I must be a shameful enabler to let you do it.  It obviously doesn't take a lot to entertain us.

Don't forget to check out my most popular print, "Reaching Out" on The Mindy Project.  So far, there have been a lot of shots of it on the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 8th episodes.

Sold another Print and This time I will be on TV...

So glad to sell another print to a great patron in Riner, VA.  This sale was of a cabin at Clayor Lake in Dublin, VA.  Beautiful place!

I am pleased that my drawing,"Reaching Out" is beautifully displayed on Fox's The Mindy Project but now I am very excited  that I will be on My19 out of Roanoke, VA.  Joy Sutton contacted me to ask me to be on her show, The Hour of Joy, which has been renewed for another season.  My appearance will be taped January 26th and the tentative air date is April 3rd.  They are going to set up some of my paintings on easels.  I hope I don't trip!

I was looking at some old photos online of girl in the 40's and thought they looked great!  They didn't look like they hadn't eaten in a week like a lot of models do these days.  Slender is fine but I think we have taken it to extremes.  My husband said if one of those models saw a potato chip in a room they would run out screaming!  I think girls should be allowed to eat just like guys.

Be sure to check out my canvas print sales this week on Fine Art America!

Audacious Recording and I'll just get it Some Place Else...

It is bad enough that I have so much trouble with computers but now I am trying to use Audacity to record my music for some short videos and I am as confused as ever.  The good thing is now I can hear my weaknesses and am working to correct them so my amateur efforts sound reasonably okay.  You really can't hear yourself play so this recording stuff is very helpful.  Musicians that perform in front of people are absolutely amazing to me.  I even get nervous playing for a recording that no one has to hear but me.   They either have nerves of steel or are just used to being on stage.  I never got used to standing in front of a class.  I was always sick to my stomach but I did it anyway.  So glad to be a full-time artist now!

The new law about soft drinks is a real crack up!  I wish we could legislate health but I think it is impossible.  Prohibition didn't work and now soft drink limits are just going to stir up a lot of jokes such as, "If you won't sell me a bigger drink I will just go somewhere else!"  People will be boot-legging large gulp colas and speakeasies will crop up again. Seriously, I wish everyone would be more careful to keep their weight down.  The tremendous increase in Diabetes type 2 is the result of our obesity problem.  I think there should be a weight watching course of some sort in elementary school.  If children are taught good eating habits I think they will continue to use them as they grow up.

Just eleven more days until I see my best-selling print, "Reaching Out", on The Mindy Project!  I hope the show is a success and I hope the print will be located where it will be easy to see.  I hope I won't be yelling, "Get out of the way!"

What a Dump and Update on My Modest Proposal...

I am a frustrated neaknik.  I want everything to be perfectly in order throughout the house and in my studio.  I want everything in its proper place and the house clean as a hospital.  What a ridiculous notion!  I live with two guys that would let a trashcan pile up to the ceiling if I didn't take care of it myself or ask them to empty it.  Our computer room/guest room has a bed that is always covered up in my husband's stuff.  I think he thinks it is a table.  My son has greatly improved.  We use to call his room the Bermuda Triangle.  I have no room to talk.  My studio is almost always filthy.  So this week I have been cleaning it out and I am desperate to get back to work.  Almost there!

In my last blog I posted my Modest Proposal regarding political commercials on TV.  My sarcastic notion was that at this time of the year all commercials should be political since we just don't have enough of them.  We should get at least two phone calls every hour from each party.

I posted the idea on Facebook and the comments were great!  One friend called it an indecent proposal.  Another one said we should get calls during breakfast and lunch rather than just at dinner time.  Another said that's the spirit!  Another friend thought it would be great if she could get one early enough in the morning so she could retire her alarm clock.

September 25th is coming so be sure to tune in to The Mindy Project and look for my best selling print, "Reaching Out", in the main character's office!

Also, be sure to check out new uploads in my Center of my Mind gallery!

A Beautiful Nude goes Viral and Everybody must Love me...

A few days ago I noticed a lot of hits on a nude I uploaded three days before and they kept coming until late afternoon!  Of course, someone must have stumbled the drawing which is a big help!  The drawing pretty much stopped getting hits at around 270.  One time a stumble resulted in 2000 in a couple of hours.  I am going to spend more time there looking at this and that.  It is a fun site!

I am convinced when I drive that everybody on the road must love me.  They are either trying to kiss my bumper or they are zooming by to get a good look at me.  What I don't understand is why they don't smile and wave when they pass me.  Sometimes they don't look happy at all.  I guess they are thinking about some problem they have to take care of.  Oh well.  It is nice to be appreciated!

Don't forget that one of my beautiful nudes, "Reaching Out", was selected out of over 3 million from over 119,000 artists to be on The Mindy Project airing September 25th.  The drawing will be in the main character's office.  Check it out!  This drawing is my best seller!

Also, be sure to look at my Artwork Added in 2011-2012 gallery on my website for additions to my portfolio.  I have been adding a lot lately.

Revising a Nude Drawing and He Works for Potato Chips...

When I was a kid I often heard about how artists often return to work long after it was done.  That seemed so strange to me at the time.  I couldn't imagine working on a painting years later but now I understand why this happens.  Sometimes I figure out what what was wrong with an earlier painting or drawing long after I cried uncle.  Artists continue to learn more about their work as it becomes more complex and then earlier works seem so much easier to deal with.  Right now I am revising a charcoal nude drawing I did many years ago and like the effect I am getting.

When I was dating there was one comment I consistently heard from boys that made me uncomfortable.  They said I didn't talk very much.  One boy said other girls talked his ear off but I was so quiet.  I know I wasn't a big talker but I did think I talked when I had something to say.  I am painfully shy so I have to put on an act when I am around people to keep up my end of the conversation.  The effort grinds my stomach so I am perfectly happy alone in my studio or with my family.  When I started this blog I wasn't sure how I would be able to think of much to say so I decided I would have to be creative which is why I try to include something funny.  Sometimes I come up with something but I rely on the poet I married and the great thing is I don't have to pay him!  He works for potato chips!  As long as I keep potato chips in the house he tries to come up with something for me!  He didn't have anything for me today so I better go and check the supply.

Looking forward to seeing my most popular print, "Reaching Out", on The Mindy Project.  I saw an  advertisement for the show yesterday.  Hope it is a hit!

Strangest Bot I have Gotten and Which is More Likely...

I have had some weird experiences with bots but this one takes the cake.  Often I will get hits from the same place on four of my paintings in succession.  There is a different address each time this happens  They are always in the same order and these paintings are not together in my images or together in a gallery.  One of them was not getting many hits before this started to happen and now it is way up there and climbing every day. Oh well. I know bots are not a bad thing but this one certainly is selective!

With all the political commercials right now it is hard not to come up with a joke.  Here is one from my husband.

Which is more likely?

a. Congress may do some work in November,

(as stated in a newspaper headline)

b. a team of Zoo monkeys will build a rocket and pilot it successfully to Mars by Christmas-

My money is on the monkeys!

Be sure to check out my canvas print specials starting tomorrow.  I will have "Reaching Out" on sale which, if you read the last blog, then you know it has been selected from over 3 million pieces of artwork from over 119,000 artists on Fine Art America to be on the set of the new sit-com, "The Mindy Project" which will air September 25th.  The set director bought and licensed an 8"x10" print to be place in the main character's office.

The other two specials are below.
