Well, I have learned to be more careful with commissions with letters. I thought the garage that was also owned by the Roanoke family that owned the store I made a painting of was named after them. In the photograph I could just make out 9th Street Garage but I thought that was the name it is today.
Whoops! Oh well, I covered over their name and corrected the sign. The painting would be gone if it were not for that error. Live and learn! Next time I will make sure I have it right before I do brush lettering which is very hard especially on such a small scale. Anyway, I am looking forward to starting some new paintings!

As I have mentioned before Clyde read the encyclopedias when he was young and I don't think he has forgotten much if any of what he read so when two people were talking about moon shine on TV he was, of course, correcting them. Here is how the conversation went.
TV moderators - Most people do not know that moon shine originated in Pennsylvania!
Clyde - Scotland.
After a number of other comments one of the moderators asked this. What I want to know is how do you drink moon shine?
Clyde's exasperated response - Shove it up your nostrils. How do you think you drink it?

I actually worked on a painting, did computer work, went to yoga class, went to Line Dance class, practiced the church piano for Sunday and fixed dinner. House is a mess and I did a load of dishes before and after dinner. I wonder why I am tired? I wish I were on a beach where the sun is shining.
Still a lot to do. The trick is to do it without cussing. I find it is hard to watch one's language when haste makes waste and the kitchen demons are after me. I know they are in there. I am clumsy but some things fall without my help.
LOL!

Last night we were watching a PBS program on Foxes and at one point in the show the foxes were on a cliff and there were whales below.
I love to look at whales! I want to see a whale.
I just look in a mirror.
You lost thirty pounds and have kept it off for a year. I can wrap my arms around you twice!

New Years Eve! Time for resolutions or, as I saw on Facebook - the to do list for the first week of January. Well, I don't really make any resolutions. I just keep on trying to improve. I have some ideas for more art promotion that I hope will be helpful. Too much to do to pick out certain tasks for resolutions.

Yesterday Clyde noticed a real nice colorful hat at a store in Christmas colors. He was thinking of buying it when he noticed what the design was. He pointed it out to me and I realized the red and green motiff was of marijauna leaves.
I said I guess that hat is for people that want to have a Hempy Christmas.
Clyde added and a Hempy Hemp New Year!
Not going to buy one. I am crazy enough without wearing something that will make people think I am a pot head.

I actually got out to a movie today and got away from this computer! That was great! We saw Aquaman. I am not real big on super hero films but this one was especially fun for me since I love to watch marine life and I love all the fascinating special effects in these movies. There certainly were a lot of great white sharks. I got a lot of my work done this morning so I was glad to see a movie!

Today I needed to make two prints and, as usual, my printer booped and beeped for such a long time. All of our printers have been that way. Sometimes they print something right when I turn it on and other times it boops and beeps. I told Clyde I could write my memoirs and be done before I got a print off of this computer. He says he will not write any memoirs. It is all in his poetry.
Oh well, the printer will never be on fire like the one below, not unless I light a match.

Not much to say today. I wrapped my last present and am trying to get other things done.
My commission is in a good place right now. I am waiting on a little more information about the store I am painting before I can get back to it. I think the patron is waiting until after Christmas which is a good idea.
I am anxious to get it done. Lots of ideas for abstracts and some ideas for more wildflower paintings. I am in the mood to work in oils and acrylics right now.
Anyway, the computer rules so I need to get to work. Hope everyone has a great Holiday!

Thursday is run around day but there has to be more to my life than my painting so Yoga this morning and Line Dancing Class this afternoon! Good to get away but it is hard to get all the computer work done.
The latest layer of my commission is drying so I can get back to it tomorrow.
Still a few things to do before Christmas and I will be bringing the dinner down to my Mother-in-law's house. I brought too much for Thanksgiving but I would rather have too much than not enough.
We have no problem with leftovers!

Sometimes I tell Clyde about the funny thing he said that I put into my blog. He usually reads it later. I told him what he said about the Frosty the Snow man statue in Radford- that he may be smiling, but when no one is looking he ducks behind a bush for a cigarette. Of course, he had something else to add.
He isn't just frowning about needing a cigarette. He is worried about climate change and is looking to buy an iceberg before they are gone.
Yikes! Maybe we should pay Frosty to stand there. LOL!

I am looking forward to getting back to some wild flower paintings after I finish my latest commission. It is coming along but the drying time for each layer has been longer than usual. I hope I can get back to it soon. I need to get out some acrylics for some abstracts but I just can't seem to get it together this time of year. I am still trying to out run Santa. Not much time left and I keep finding something I need to do.
Gee, I wonder if I am the only one complaining about Holiday stress? As Snoopy once said, "My mind reels with sarcastic replies."

In our little city there is a smiling Frosty the Snowman across from the bridge that people enter Radford from Fairlawn. It is looks real good there. When I pointed it out to Clyde the other day and remarked on how happy it looked he, of course, had a goofy comment.
Sure, it is smiling now, but when no one is looking it ducks behind a bush and smokes a cigarette.
Frosty wouldn't do that.
How do you know? No one is paying him to stand there and smile. I'll be he frowns big time behind the bush.
Another wacko comment from my curmudgeon.
Frosty may not smoke a cigarette behind a bush but I'll bet he would throw a snowball at Clyde if he got the chance.

I am trying hard to avoid work today which is a laugh. I have already completed the first stage of my latest commission, two loads of dishes, and some cleaning up. Workaholics have a hard time relaxing. I have noticed that when I do watch TV for about twenty minutes I am doing something with my hands the whole time I am watching the DVD. I have tried to stay perfectly still but I can't do it. Oh well. Better to have too much to do then nothing at all. I am never bored.

Life with The Word and Bird Man - Clyde Kessler
Clyde and I grew up during a time period when people could not put their phones in their pockets. We managed to live without a cell phone for a long time and then realized they were necessary. I don't think there are many public phones these days. I have to have one for my Art business and Clyde has one because he should have one.
No one could ever accuse us of zoning out and staring at a phone screen. To give you an idea of how out of date we are, I bought Clyde a new phone weeks ago and he still has not transferred the minutes from his old broken phone to the new one.
Yesterday I suggested he do that before he is dead. Still hasn't happened. Maybe in a few days, weeks, years...
