What is with the white and Pass the Buck....

Not much in the way of news right now.  I am just content to work on my current portait commission and start some new works.  I don't know what the manufacturers are doing right now to white oil paint but I have a top brand that takes forever to dry.  Oil paint has always had a slow drying time but this new stuff is ridiculous.  I don't work wet-in-wet.  I combine a number of low-level impasto layers together and I am not used to waiting so long to get to the next layer.  I am glad the patron that hired me for the portrait commission is not in a hurry.  I can't blow on it.  Acrylics aren't for me, but right now they are looking pretty good. They dry at the speed of light compared to oils.

Our dog is well into her hundreds in dog years and our dog care activities are getting rather laborious.  It is difficult to get her outside.  I was coaxing her out with treats but now she isn't responding to that so I have to pull her which I hate to do. The other day I asked my husband to get her out and he passed the buck to our son.  I heard him say, ask her if she wants to go out and put her out even if she says no. What a smart alec!

That dog hasn't talked in years!  expressionism paintings

Artists have Trouble Washing their Hair and You probably will run out...

When I was in college I remember one of my professors talking about one of his professors who was extremely dedicated to creating excellent art.  He was so involved with his artwork that his hair was hardly every combed.  His life was a frenzy and he lived to paint, a phrase I use to describe myself.  Back then I was dedicated but I didn't live to paint.  Now I understand what that man went through.  There just isn't enough time.  Art is a jealous lover and the thought of washing my hair is a real pain. I get to it but there just aren't enough hours in the day.  I wonder if I will ever stop saying I need more hours.  Oh well, got to wash my hair.

As I have said before, I try to include something funny and I mostly rely on my husband for humor.  Sometimes I come up with something but most of the quips are his.  I write them down so I won't forget them and I am ahead of schedule right now.  I mentioned that to him but I also told him to keep them coming as I may run out.  He said I probably would run out on him because he is punning me to death.  Not so!  I love puns!

Don't forget to check out my weekly sales on three of my popular works.  The sale is about 40% off the regular price!  You can see them by going to kendall-kessler.fineartamerica.com and go to page two of the Limited Time selections.

Great to See Jackie Gleason Again and If Stupidity Were...

I don't have a lot to say about my paintings today except that I am surprised I'm not covering them up this time.  I had gotten to the point that It was too difficult to do anything else if I could see my current paintings so I covered them after my sessions.  This time I am checking them out through the day without grabbing a paint brush and turning on the exhaust fan.  Art is a weird but fascinating experience.

One of my all time favorite programs is the Honey Mooners with the late, great Jackie Gleason. Roanoke has started a station called MeTV with the programs of the sixties.  Jackie Gleason was an incredible entertainer and it is wonderful to see him and his terrific cast again.  No one could turn dancing into comedy the way he did.  What fun!

My husband is always coming home with stories about drivers that practically hit him while they are on the cell phone, tailgators that practically climb into the trunk, and speeders that almost run him over.  He has decided that if stupidity were gasoline there would be no shortage anywhere.  We would have an endless supply.

Be sure to check out my specials which are on page two of the Limited Time on Fine Art America!
