Excited about new works and Ordering nuts online...

I am enjoying some small works right now!  I just uploaded "Color Ripples on the Blue Ridge" and have received a lot of hits and great comments!  I prefer to work large but right now I want to paint a few that can be scanned into the computer so people can order huge prints of them.  I have a number of galleries on my website and Megaview has 32 to choose from.  There are originals for sale in the gallery but it is possible to make huge prints of all of them.  My most popular one is "Stepping Stones on The New River".

A few days ago I noticed a strange low humming noise in our bedroom.  I asked my husband what he thought it was and he said he couldn't hear it.  Well,  if you think you are crazy because you are hearing things then you can't be crazy so I figured there was a noise.  I asked him to move around the room.  When he got close to the wall he said he could hear a slight hum coming from the roof.  I pretended to be scared and asked him what he thought it was.  I don't know, maybe a squirrel with an ipad is ordering nuts online.   So much for eerie noises!

Glad I Paint Standing Up and Didn't I Just Call you Stupid...

Painting is a lot of work as any painter will tell you.  A lot of people think it is done sitting down and finished in a few hours.  Actually, most painters stand up so they can walk back and forth and see how it looks from a distance.  Artists want people to get the full effect of their work in a room without having to get up close.  We want out work to carry into the environment.  I remember when I was a student I only stood up once in a while because the professor said I should.  I can't image sitting now and since I have developed some soreness in my hip I am glad it is done standing up.  Many people are finding out that we shouldn't sit that much.  My husband says some of his co-workers have put their computer up high so they can stand and work.  Older bodies sure do need a lot of maintenance.

The other day on The Bill Cosby Show he was discussing with his son the pet names he and his wife had when they were dating.  He didn't want to admit it at first but then with a big smile he said his was Baby Cakes.  I turned to my husband and said didn't I just call you Stupid?  His reply was, yes and I answered to it.  Now that's a big lie!  My husband may have his faults but I would never call him Stupid.  Before I look anything up I ask him first, and unlike the panel of experts on the Red Green Comedy Hour he almost always has a correct answer for me.  It is nice to live with some one who read the Encyclopedia and still remembers what he read.

So Glad to Sell Another Canvas Print of A Break in the Clouds and I Think I am one of Those People...

I'm so pleased to sell another large canvas print of one of my two most popular pieces of artwork on Fine Art America.  A Break in the Clouds and Reaching Out have sold more than any of my other paintings or drawings.  It is exciting to see my work so high in the search results.  If you put Mountains Paintings in the search, A Break in the Clouds is #3 out of 10,000+.  If you put Mountains oil  paintings in the search it is #1 out of 1790.  It is also #3 out of 6304 Nature Oil paintings.  I work hard at promoting my artwork and am pleased to see increased sales. 

On Facebook today there was a joke with Daffy Duck about stupid people.  The gist was that a day without stupid people would be... I don't know.  I'll let you know if it ever happens.  I decided to share the joke with my 1265 friends and a lot of people liked it.  A while after I shared it occurred to me that I couldn't really agree with Daffy Duck because I can be pretty stupid myself so I added that as a comment.  I added that I do some real stupid things but I don't think I am stupid 24/7.  I hope there aren't any people I know that would disagree.  I think we are all smart and stupid at times.  The trick is to be more smart than stupid.  Live and learn or is it live and learn too late?

Sold Another Original and You might be able to do a Big Hour if...

I am so pleased to sell another original oil painting of this gorgeous region to a great patron in North Carolina. It is always great to sell prints but I am mostly concerned with selling original works of art. It is what I do and I want to find homes for all of them.

I recently saw the comedy, "The Big Year" with Steve Martin, Jack Black, and Owen Wilson. The movie is based on a birding competition where enthusiasts vie for the most species viewed in one year. Since I have lived my adult life with a dedicated naturalist who mostly studies birds and butterflies, this was a great movie for me. I thought they did a terrific job and so did my husband. I wouldn't be surprised if my husband had the time to participate that he would win. He has seen over 200 species a year of birds just in the small city of Radford. Anyway, I jokingly told him that maybe I could do a Big Year. He said I might be able to do a Big Hour lying on the beach while someone else held the binoculars and collected the data. I want everyone to know that is totally false. I wouldn't be lying on the beach while someone else collected the data. I would be body surfing in the ocean while someone else collected the data.
