So much to do but I will get to the lake this evening! I try real hard to seize the day but it just slips right out of my fingers! I am counting off the things I must get done and then I will drag Clyde to the lake for what will probably be his only time this summer.

Still no funnies. Oh well. I am going to dunk Clyde in Claytor lake this evening. He doesn't really like the water and told me this morning he doesn't have any slides so I am going to the store and get him some. No excuses this time. There are plenty of birds and butterflies he can watch there.
I will make sure he doesn't have his keys in his pocket. I will never forget the time his keys fell into the lake and we had to scramble for them. That was a mess! I know he isn't looking forward to the lake but I am.
Summer is always over before you know it. You have to seize the lake!

Looks like I don't have a funnie today. I kept waiting for one from Clyde as the ants packed their bags and moved into the bathroom, but nothing. Time to get that Ajax and try that.
I literally work my butt off. It is definitely smaller than it used to be. Some of my clothes are getting too big. I will have to get around to the hated chore of shopping.
I know. A big sarcastic Boo Hoo to me.

All of my life I thought I was definitely different. High School certainly proved that. I didn't fit in at all and lived in my own world of art, music, and literature. When I was a kid and definitely different I told people I knew I was crazy. I didn't think it was because I was an artist. I used to argue with people and students that artists are not crazy.
Van Gogh had a history of mental illness in his family and I think it is very likely he would have had problems regardless of what career he took up. I gave up on that one and just agree with people that think artists are nuts. Now that I am pretty old I have noticed some strange mental lapses.
I told Clyde sometimes I think I am losing my mind and then I say to myself, did I ever have one? Oh well. I may be on the wacky side and getting wackier by the minute but I am a well functioning nut with a lot of paintings to paint.

Feeling better but still dragging after the dreaded colonoscopy. Glad I don't have to have another one for five years! This time the prep medicine made me nauseated and bloated. That never happened the other times. Oh well, done and done! Now back to my artwork! Here's some flowers to cheer me up!

Clyde and I live about ten minutes from the hospital so unless it is something serious we don't wait on each other. The one in the hospital calls the other one when the procedure is done. Yesterday I was asked by the receptionist who would be waiting for me or picking me up. I told her and gave her the number.
Every other person I came into contact with asked me with a slightly worried look on their face if someone was going to pick me up. I would be woozy and unable to drive. I told them Clyde who was only ten minutes away. One of them asked me twice.
When we got home I told Clyde I was asked that question over and over again. He said I should have told them no and they were going to have to drop me in a rickshaw and drag me home and please include a mint julep.
Just a joke! The staff was great!

I am not looking forward to tomorrow or Thursday. It is that awful time again for a colonoscopy. Yuck! I am glad that the prep has changed so much. I just have to be on the liquid diet tomorrow. It certainly is an important procedure and I am glad there are people in the medical profession that are willing to do it. Wish there was an easier way. Oh well, Friday is coming!

Sometimes I see a joke on Facebook that cracks me up and I have to run and tell Clyde. He is a much tougher audience.
While I am gasping for breath he may be laughing but not losing it like me.
This one really caused me to lose some air.

Well, I think this will be the last post this summer on the Ant Chronicles. There are no ants in any of the rooms! I keep expecting to see one holding up a white surrender flag or saluting us for our victory.
Clyde said not to wish for that. If one shows up it will be to case the joint for crumbs and then signal the troops to come back.

My yoga teacher pulled some modifications of old moves that she learned at a yoga learning session of some sort and I think those new moves might be a little too much. I have a sore muscle in my hip I didn't have before today's class. Hope it doesn't get worse. Lots of work to do but I think I had better take it easy. I will do that right after Line Dance class. Hope I don't pay for lack of caution.

Some interesting developments regarding dogs these days. Man's best friend sure is getting some special treatment. I recently saw a car seat for dogs. Looked just like one for a baby.
The other day there was a dog food commercial that claimed to put the puppy back into a fat, old, lazy dog. First there was a video of the fat dog looking pretty awful and then the same dog trimmed down and running around like a puppy.
My curmudgeon hubby said the videos were presented backwards. The dog got fat and lazy off of the miracle dog food. Don't get me wrong, dogs are great, but they are not people and I think we need to dial back some of these efforts to turn them into humans with fur.
Lots of pictures of them wearing clothes, too. Next thing you know they will be sitting on boosters seats and eating with a knife and fork at the table.

The arm wrestling is over for my latest painting! I am getting exactly what I want. When I started I wasn't sure what I wanted for my latest wildlife painting. I knew I wanted to get an intense expression with a complex surface. I am almost done and will be glad to add it to my portfolio! It is completely different from the first layer. Now I want to get to a large painting while I am in practice with oils. It is my main medium but when I go to the very different medium of acrylics I have to get my ease back with oils or I waste a lot of expensive paint. Looking forward to the last session! When my painting is working I feel like I'm out on the bay enjoying life!

Lately I have had Steven Sondheim's song Send in the Clowns on my mind. I told Clyde it is because of the ants. For several mornings now I have been singing Where are the ants. There ought to be ants. I have been singing that because there aren't any in the kitchen but a little later I sing the last two lines. Don't bother. They're here.
One or two keep showing up but I think we are on the verge of success. I am starting to put back a few things on the shelves that are closed but I know from past experience that ants can work their way in.
Clyde said to quit singing the first two lines or a whole troupe of them may hear it and come in with a very loud, Don't bother. They're here!!!! They may want to start a rock band.
